Photo: Meridel, Josh, Yeshai a friend and Jay. We read this short verse during our devotions with our team out in the garden this morning. I found it so perfect. This Sabbath, we had all of the children and grands except our second son Chris and his wife and three sons who live in Helsinki. It was a perfect Sabbath. We had excellent food. I was inspired to bake two rather scrumptious cakes and they both disappeared over the course of two days… fellowship in the quiet assurance of acceptance is what its all about. We are indeed refreshed for the new week, which for us begins on Sunday.

Thank you for your letter. I love your letters. I treasure good news from a far country. I am grateful to be able to communicate via email and internet and the websites etc. But tell me, how does all of that compare to a letter or note written in one’s own hand? There is no comparison what so ever.

Thank you for your prayers and offerings. We keep on keepin on and somehow make it through.

We have one who sticks closer than a brother at all times; and we have each other!

Josh, Jay and I were recently at a Bar Mitzveh. Adir (see below) is the 13 year old son of Natan Bivin. Natan and our son Chris grew up together and pulled the typical pranks young kids do! Natan is the only child of Biblical scholar David Bivin, and his Mom is a full blooded Armerican Armenian. Our home was a second home to Natan. So… it was a night of great joy out on the hills in a Finnish Moshav ‘Yad ha Shmoneh’ just 5 miles south of us.  What a glorious evening it was, spent with some of our oldest believing friends in Israel.

The moshav’s  ancient black basalt stone synagogue was donated by the Antiquities Department years ago. It stood near the Sea of Galilee before the time of Jesus. The ancient stones were loving extracted from the North because the ruin was being riffled and was disappearing. It was wisely placed in the hands of those who would use it and cherish it. If you have ever toured Israel, it looks like the first black foundation stones of the famous synagogue in Capernaum where we know Jesus taught. Here in Yad ha Shmoneh, it was rebuilt and left just as it had been found, unfinished. It sits in a beautiful location overlooking the hills down to the plains of Adjelon where Joshua commanded the sun to stand still.  This is where the Bar Mitzveh ceremony took place just  prior to sunset. Ancient scriptures out of Deuteronomy were Adir’s Torah portion to be read.

“Only take heed to yourself and diligently keep yourself, lest you forget the things which your eyes have seen, and lest they depart from your heart all the days of your life. And teach them to your children and your children’s children…” Deut. 4:9    I remember it well because our Daniel had the same readying for his Bar Mitzveh in 1999.

Then the  solemnity of the evening became a gala celebration complete with  South American music with a latin flavor. Ballons and even a dragon on stilts added to the festivities. During a sumptious dinner out under the stars, Adir’s mom sang a famous Israeli song, “Momma…” to her son. This followed by a slide show, endless desserts, visits with old friends and young people continously dancing made for a stupendous happening. We floated home in a cloud of joy that flowed from the friendships established in our early days here over fourty years ago.

This afternoon we will go to our granddaughter Liyah’s musical performance given at the conclusion of her summer music camp. She is a composer, singer and musician, and of course we are very proud of her. These are the joys that touch the hearts of grandparents like nothing else.

Reservests on Duty: I thought you might appreciate what a handful of young Christian Lebanese are doing to ‘pay back’ Israel for saving them from Hezbuloh in Lebanon. In Edinburgh the Israeli Incubator Theater  joined the Int’l Shalom Festival. Three years after a large anti-Israel protest ran Israelis out. But this time these Israelis were not alone. Along with the police, stood activists from Reservists on Duty, an NGO that works to counter DBS from causing cayos.   “This is what we do.” said Jonathan Elkhoury, a Lebanese Christian who works with the group and flew to Scotland to offer support. “If we have any Israelis or any Jews or pro-Israelis who are having events and people are trying to shut down their events, we go there to support them.” Elhoury fled from Lebanon to Israel in 2001 at age nine, one of husbands of Christian Lebanese permitted to live in Israel when their lands in South Lebanon were taken by Hezbulloh. Now they have returned to ‘give back’  by providing security protection to Israelis abroad. because Israel was the nation that saved their lives.”

Anti-semitism is growing world wide. Jews are talking of leaving Europe. President Trump is in hot water with Jews for his weak initial response to the riots in Charlottesville. Two days later he clarified his position against the Alt right, the KKK and the neo-Nazis. But  Jews are worried.  ISIS wrecked havoc in Barcelona and Turku Finland. In Syria ISIS is begging Hezbulloh for mercy. Back in 2013. Jay made a TV series on ISIS. Who listened? In 2015 we travelled across  Canada challenging Canadians to vote wisely in the upcoming Federal election. Apathy has taken its toll indeed. Christians can make a difference if they WILL!

Over here in our neighborhood, Syria is becoming a serious vaccum. Who will fill it?  Russia? Iran? Turkey? Hezbulloh? America? Meanwhile the so called “Middle East Peace Process” grinds on and Abbas says he will bring back the PLO government. But, I say, keep your eyes on the Temple Mount. That is the flashpoint; the key to unraveling the future. So let us watch and pray. Remember to pray for the Peace of Jerusalem… for they shall prosper who love her. Pray for wisdom and understanding. My mind is quiet because it is “stayed on thee.” The following blessing came in a card from a friend named Marilyn in England. Thank you!

”Kuinka hyvää ja suloista onkaan, kun veljekset elävät sopuisasti yhdessä! Sillä sinne on HERRA määrännyt siunauksen, ikuisen elämän. Ps. 133: 1,3 RK [Englanninkielinen käännös ilmaisee hieman toisin: Nähkää, miten hyvää ja siunattua on veljeksille elää yhdessä yksimielisyydessä, ykseydessä, yhtä pitäen. Suom. huom.]

Ennen kuin kesä täysin sujahtaa ohi, tässä vielä päivitys Jayn tilanteesta. Nautimme ensi kertaa kolme kuukautta sitten suoritetun Jayn leikkauksen jälkeen treffeillä olosta. Shlomi Arad, yksi Danielin ystävistä jo 3 vuoden iästä lähtien, teki puutarhastamme itselleen toisen kodin. Hän löysi sielunkumppaninsa, ja me kaikki osallistuimme Shlomin hääpäivän iloon. Seremonian jälkeen menimme kaikki hupan [juutalaisen perinteen vihkikatos] alle. Yhtäkkiä Shlomi laittoi kätensä Jayn päälle ja määräsi siunauksen!

”Tältä minusta juuri nyt tuntuu”, sanoi Jay katsoessaan herkkätuoksuista, persikanväristä ruusua. Valokuva vasemmalla. ”On kulunut kolme kuukautta siitä, kun lääkärit korjasivat sydämeni hiippaläpän ja tasaannuttivat sydämenlyöntini. Voin paljon paremmin ja voimistun päivä päivältä. Kiitän teitä rukouksista. Kiitos Jumalalle. Kiitos Jeesus.”

Viime viikolla kävimme Jayn elektrokardiologin vastaanotolla, ja hän siunasi Jayta puhtailla terveyspapereilla. ”Työskentelettekö?” ”Kyllä! Sain valmiiksi filmikäsikirjoituksen ja työskentelen parhaillaan kirjan parissa.” ”Hyvä!” lääkäri huudahti. ”Jatkakaa samaan malliin.”

Jay ja Daniel työskentelevät toisen, pakolaisperheitä käsittelevän filmin parissa. Perheitä on 12 ja he elävät turvassa, tekevät työtä ja opiskelevat Guelphissa, Kanadassa. Jay sekä Jan Karnis saivat valmiiksi dokumentin rakkaiden Kanadan Albertassa asuvien ystäviemme Bill ja Audrey Martinin elämästä. Tämä filmi ‘The Key of Success’ (Avain menestykseen) esittää selkeästi periaatteet, jotka takasivat siunauksen heidän elämäänsä, sekä heidän lapsiensa ja lastenlapsiensa elämään. He ovat kaikin tavoin esimerkillisiä, myös Israelin uskollisina esirukoilijoina. He tukevat kiitollisin mielin yhä meitä täällä Israelissa eläviä ja ovat jatkuvasti siunaukseksi.

Tunnemme olomme kovin kotoisaksi täällä Israelissa, monin tavoin ainutlaatuisessa maassa ja ainutlaatuisten ihmisten joukossa. Yksi seikka on kuuma ja kuiva sää, joka kattaa maan joka kesä aina syyskuulle asti. Ilman aurinkosuojaa iho armotta palaa. Täällä Benjaminin ja Juudan kukkuloilla meitä siunaavat viileät tuulenhenkäykset yöaikaan, ja KASTE lähes joka ilta. Kaste lankeaa vain, kun ilmanliike täysin seisahtuu. Siunauksena se kylvettää kaiken tielleen osuvan. Tuo kaste oli raamatullisten aikojen runsaiden satojen salaisuus. Silloin ei ollut kastelujärjestelmiä paahteisen maan kasteluun. Minä, Meridel, sanoin Jaylle: ”Elämme kasteesta…” Annoin puutarhamme nimeksi ‘Gan Tal’. Tal on kastetta merkitsevä heprean sana. Miten virkistävä se onkaan ja aina se siunaa.

Syyskuu tuo mukanaan ‘toisen kevään’ ja sen myötä myös ‘toisen sadon’. Olemme jo korjanneet viikunoita, rypäleitä ja granaattiomenoita. Pian ovat korjuuvuorossa puuvilla- ja vehnäpellot. Oliivit ovat jo valtaisia, niiden paino on saanut muutamat oksat katkeamaan. Meidän on pitänyt laittaa tukia oksien alle. Syksy tuo takaisin kukkanuput ja uuden kukinnan siunattuna uutena elämänä. Kauppojen hyllyiltä löytyy jälleen appelsiineja ja avokadoja. Valokuvassa vasemmalla: granaattiomenan kärkiosa. Sen malliset koristeet ommeltiin ylipapin kaavun alareunaan vuoronperään kulkusten kanssa.

”Minun nimeni on oleva suuri kansojen keskuudessa, sanoo HERRA Sebaot.” Malakia 1:11 Silti meitä ympäröivät viholliset, jotka vihaavat Israelin saamia siunauksia… pysyttehän rukouksessa Israelin puolesta tulevan juutalaisen uuden vuoden ja lehtimajanjuhlan aikana. Iranilaisen ovat rakentamassa ammustehdasta Syyrian pohjoisrajalle. Heillä on pitkän kantaman ohjuksia Syyriassa tätä kirjoittaessani. Noiden ohjusten kantomatka ulottuu Israelin kaikkiin osiin. Pohjois-Korea on varustanut Syyriaa sariini-kaasulla, joka on tappanut satoja tänä vuonna. Nämä kansakunnat ovat rikkoneet YK:n sopimuksia. Ja Venäjä toimii kuin ei olisi tietoinen tästä. Petosta!

Syyskuu alkaa tänä vuonna heprealaisen elul-kuun aikana. Se tuo myötään ajan, jolloin kaikki uskovat juutalaiset ovat yhtä, on heidän uskonsuuntansa mikä tahansa. Elul on rukouksen, sisimmän tutkistelun, katumuksen ja paaston kuukausi, joka huipentuu jom kippuriin, suureen sovituspäivään. Katumus on hyvin yleinen teema juutalaisuudessa. Voi, miten me kaikki sitä tarvitsemmekaan! Lopetin juuri 14 päivän paaston, joka oli vaikein kokemusteni joukossa. Milloinkaan paastoamisesta ei tule helpompaa, niinhän asia on.  Kun shofarit soivat koko maassa, maassa puhkeaa juhlinta ja suuri ilo. Olemme eläneet täällä yhtäjaksoisesti 41 vuotta ja meitä yhä hämmästyttää ja ilahduttaa täkäläinen elämänmeno. Raamatun kansa ja maa, Mooseksen ja Jeesuksen ja eläväisten nuorten israelilaisten maa nykyään, mukana joukossa meidän omat nuoremme, siinä meidän korkea kutsumuksemme! Unohdamme kansakuntien kiroukset ja kertaamme profeettojen ja Jeesuksen sanoja, joiden perusteella kaikki ihmiset tullaan tuomitsemaan. Suokoon Jumala meille puhdistumisen ja rauhan sotien aikakautena! Hän on meidän ainut alkulähteemme ja elinvoimamme salaisuus. ”Meidän apumme on HERRAN nimessä, joka on tehnyt taivaan ja maan.” Psalmi 124:8

Siitä lähtien, kun syyskuussa 1980 avasimme Jerusalemin kansainvälisen kristillisen suurlähetystön, ovat kristityt runsain joukoin oppineet rakastamaan lehtimajanjuhlia. Kristittyjen sydämet ovat hurmaantuneet omien juuriensa rikkaudesta. Syvimmiltäänhän Jeesus on juuri ja kuningas Daavidin jälkeläinen. Eräänä päivänä Hän vielä istuu Daavidin valtaistuimella. Odotamme kymmeniä tuhansia pyhiinvaeltajia ‘suuren kuninkaan kaupunkiin’, Jerusalemiin. He matkaavat ‘ylös’ Jerusalemiin, aivan profetioiden mukaisesti, ja koko Israelin kansakunta tuntee heidän rakastavat ja siunaavat sydämensä!

Monet kristityt kantavat huolta syyskuun 23. päivästä, joka sattuu olemaan juutalainen uusi vuosi. Valokuvassa vasemmalla Neitsyen tähtikuvio. Tällä kertaa ihmisten huolenaihe koskee auringon, kuun ja planeettojen linjautumista. Jotkut kristilliset ryhmät yhdistävät tämän tapahtuman Ilmestyskirjan 12: 1 ja 2 jakeisiin: Taivaassa näkyi suuri tunnusmerkki: nainen, pukunaan aurinko, kuu jalkojensa alla ja seppeleenä päässään kaksitoista tähteä. 2. Hän oli raskaana ja huusi synnytyskivuissaan, ja hänen oli tuskallista synnyttää.

Israelilaiset rabbit sanovat näin; tiivistän telavivilaisen ILTV:n haastattelusta kuulemaani uutislähetyksen antia. ”Tiedämme, että profetia on täyttynyt ja täyttyy parhaillaan. Mutta johtuen omasta pitkästä ja surullisesta historiastamme me juutalaiset pyrimme olemaan spekuloimatta näistä tapahtumista. Aiemmin tehtiin hirvittäviä erehdyksiä. Tiedämme, että edessä on tuskallisia aikoja, joita kutsumme Messiaan synnytyskivuiksi. Vasta sitten voimme tietää kuka Messias on. Kyllä, ilmeisesti aika on lyhyt.”

Rukoilisitko yhdessä minun, Meridelin, kanssa seuraavan rukouksen lukiessani upeasti ilmaistun sydämen huudon, joka on peräisin henkilöltä nimeltä Jabes? Kyseessä on jylhä, täydellinen Kaikkivaltiaalle Jumalalle osoitettu rukous. ”Jospa sinä siunaisit minua runsaasti ja laajentaisit alueeni! Jospa kätesi olisi minun kanssani ja sinä varjelisit minut pahasta, niin ettei minun tarvitsisi kärsiä kipuja!” 1. Aik. 4:10

 

Kirjani, työnimeltä ‘Hidden Wounds’ (Salaiset kivut) on Jayn sanojen mukaan voimallinen ja tulee siunaamaan suuria ihmismääriä! Eräs vanha ystävä oli sapattiaterialla luonamme. Näimme hänet edellisen kerran huhtikuussa sielunhoitokäynnin yhteydessä. Siitä on siis neljä kuukautta, emmekä kuulleet hänestä mitään ennen kuin hän tuli illalliselle. Olin antanut hänelle kopion yhdestä tuon kirjan luvusta. Koska hän oli kärsinyt lapsuudesta lähtien raastavista ajatuksista, hän tarvitsi kipeästi ymmärrystä ajatusmallista, jolla vapautua ja pysyä vapaana. Astuessaan taloomme hän sanoi aivan aluksi: ”Oi Meridel, luin kirjoittamasi luvun ja tein läksyksi saamani harjoituksen, enkä ole sen jälkeen katsonut taakseni!” Wau! Se oli siinä! Sanat olivat suureksi rohkaisuksi minulle. Eikö Jeesus kertonutkin, miten harvat palasivat kiittämään ja siunaamaan vastavuoroisesti? Niinpä, sain rohkaisua ja työstän kirjaa, niin että se olisi oikoluettuna syyskuun puoliväliin mennessä. Sitten se menee kustannustoimittajille ja sen jälkeen painettavaksi. Pyydän esirukouksia ja apua painatuskuluihin.

Matka Nepaliin. Kyllä vain, nyt Nepalin ihmiskauppaa käsittelevä filmi on saatavilla eri versioina: englanniksi, saksaksi, suomeksi, venäjäksi, eestiksi ja espanjaksi. Mikäli haluat oman kappaleen, niin pyydäthän! Näytä filmiä toisille ja auta meitä. Vielä enemmän pitää tehdä. Haluamme palata Nepaliin ja rohkaista sikäläisten työntekijöiden uskoa. Asia on vahvasti sydämelläni. On aika palata sinne filmiryhmän kanssa. Tarvitsemme lentolippuihin 2 000 US dollaria sekä varat majoitukseen ja ruokailuun neljälle ihmiselle. Haluaisin myös viedä lahjoituksen Indiralle. Sydämeni huutona on pääsy kyliin ja viljelyalueille yhdessä Indiran kanssa. Autathan meitä tässä hankkeessa. Parhaiten sopisi lähtö lokakuun lopulla tänä syksynä. Ethän ainoastaan lue tätä, vaan autathan meitä palaamaan Nepaliin ja vaikuttamaan muutosta. Kiitos paljon. Luotan apuusi. Mikään lahjoitus ei ole liian pieni tai liian suuri. Kuulisin mielelläni sinusta. Kiitos viesteistä. Katso, mitä olemme tehneet; filmimme on levinnyt eri puolille. Tässä minä olen – hineni!

Dear Friends:

“Behold how good and blessed it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!  For there the LORD commanded a blessing – Life forevermore.”  Ps. 133: 1,3b.

Before summer completely slips away, here is an update on Jay. We enjoyed our first date since his surgery three months ago. Shlomi Arad, one of Daniel’s friends at age 3 made our garden his second home. He found his soulmate and we all shared in the joy of his wedding day.  After the ceremony when we joined them under the huppa. Suddenly, Shlomi laid his hands on Jay and commanded a blessing!  

“Blessed is he who blesses you…” Numbers 24:9b

“This is how I feel right now” Jay said, looking into the face of a delicately perfumed peach rose. Photo left. “Its going on three months now since the doctors repaired my mitral valve and regulated my heart beat. I am feeling so much better and grow stronger every day. I thank you for your prayers.  Thank God. Thank you Yeshua.”  

Last week we visited his electrocardiologist and he blessed Jay with a clean bill of health.

“Are you working?”

“Yes!” I’ve completed the script for a film, and am now working on a book.”

“Good!” the Dr. exclaimed. “Keep it up.”

Jay and Daniel are working on a second film about our refugee families, 12 in all safely prospering, working and studying in Guelph. Jay and Jan Karnis have completed a documentary on the lives of our dear friends Bill and Audrey Martin in Alberta, Canada. The Keys of Success, highlights the principles that ensured blessing in their lives and those of their children and grandchildren. They are an example in every way including their faithfulness in prayer for Israel. Thankfully they stand with us here in Israel and are a continual blessing.

We are so at home here in Israel, a unique land and people in many ways. One is the hot dry weather that decends every summer lasting right through September. Without sunscreen you will burn unmercifully.  Up here in the hills of Benjamin and Judah we are blessed with cool breezes at night and DEW nearly every evening. Dew only falls when the air grows completely still. Blessedly it bathes everything in its path. This was the secret of such bountiful crops in Bible times when they didn’t have irrigation to water the parched earth. I, Meridel tell Jay:  “We live by the dew…” I named our garden Gan Tal. Tal is Hebrew for dew. What a refreshing it is and always blesses.

September brings with it the ‘Second Spring’  along with that also the ‘Second Harvest’.

We have already personally harvested figs, grapes and pomegranates. Soon the cotton and wheat fields will be harvested. The olives are already huge and their weight is so heavy on the boughs, some have snapped off. We must place supports beneath them. Fall also brings back all the flowers to bud

“For My Name shall be great among the nations,” says the LORD of Hosts.” Malachi 1:11e.

However, we are surrounded by  enemies who hate Israel to be blessed…so be in prayer for Israel over this Jewish New Year and Feast of Tabernacles. The Iranians are building a munitions factory on our northern border with Syria. They have long range missles in Syria as I write, that can reach any part of Israel. North Korea has been supplying Syria with sarine gas; which has killed hundreds this year. These nations have broken UN agreements. And Russia acts as though she were not aware of it? Treason!

September this year arrives in the Hebrew month of Elul. It ushers in a time of brevity for all believing Jews of whatever persuasion. It is a month of prayer, heart searching, repentance and fasting; culminating in Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement. Repentance is a very commom theme in Judaism. Oh how we all need it! I have just completed a 14 day fast, the hardest in my experience. It never gets easier, that is the truth. When the shofars are blown all over the land; feasting and great joy breaks forth in that order. Living here continously for 41 years, we contuinue to be surprised and delighted with life here. The People and the Land of the Bible, the land of Moses and Jesus and vibrant young Israelis today, our own young people among them is our high calling! We forget the curses of the nations and repeat the words of the prophets and Jesus by which all men will be judged. May God grant us His cleansing and Peace in a time of war! He is our only Source and the secret of our sustenance.  “Our help is in the name of the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth.” Psalm 124:8

Since we opened the Int’l Christian Embassy September 1980 multitudes of Christians have learned to love the Feast of Tabernacles. Their hearts have been captivated by the richness of their Roots. After all Jesus is the root and offspring of King David. One day He will sit on  David’s throne. We await tens of thousands of pilgrims to the cith of the great king, Jerusalem. They “come up” to Jerusalem just as prophesied and the entire nation of Israel feels their hearts of love and blessing!

Many Christians concern themselves with the date of September 23rd, which happens to be the Jewish New Year. Photo of the  Constellation Virgo (Virgin) left. But this time their concern is linked to the alignment of the sun and moon and planets. Christian groups equate this event to: “Now a great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet and on her head a garland of twelve stars. Then being with child, she cried out in labor and in pain to give birth.” Rev. 12:1,2.

Israeli Rabbis speak: I will paraphrase what I heard on a ILTV interview news program from Tel Aviv. “We know that prophecy is has been fulfilled and is being fulfilled. But, because of our very long and sad history the Jewish people try not to speculate over such events.Terrible mistakes were made. We do know that there will be painful times, ahead, which we call the ‘birth pangs’ of Messiah. Only then can we know who Messiah is. Yes, it is obvious that time is short.”

Would you like to join me, Meridel , in the following prayer as I speak out the perfectly expressed heart’s cry of a person named Jabez?

It is a spectular, perfect prayer to Almighty God. “And Jabez called upon the name of the God of Israel saying, ‘Oh, that You would bless me indeed, and enlarge my territory, that Your hand would be with me, and that You would keep me from evil, 

that I may not cause pain!’”  Chronicles 4:10

My Book Hidden Wounds:(working title): “It is powerful and will bless multitudes” ! says Jay.  A old friend was here for Shabbat dinner. We last saw him in April when he came for a counseling session. That was four months ago, not a word, until he showed up for dinner. I had given him a copy of one chapter from this book. Suffering as he was from tormenting thoughts from childhood, he desperately needed to understand the vital concept of how to get free and stay free. The first thing he said upon entering the house: “Oh, Meridel, I read your chapter and did my homework and have never looked back!”  Wow! That was it! This was a big encouragement to me. Didn’t Jesus say how few ever came back to say ‘thank you’ and to bless in return? Yes I was encouraged and am working to have the book edited by mid-September. Then it goes to other editors and then the printer. I ask for your prayers and help with the printing costs.

Trip to Nepal: Yes, we have the Nepal film on trafficking in English, German, Finnish, Russian, Estonian, and Spanish.  If you would like to request a copy then do so! Share it with others, help us. But more needs to be done We want to get back into Nepal and stir up the faith of the co-workers there. It is very much on my heart. It is time to return with a film crew. We need airfare at US $2,000. a ticket plus accommodation and food for four people. I would also like to take an offering for Indira. My heart’s cry is to get out into the fields and villages with Indira.  Please help us in this endeavour. It would be best if we could leave by the end of October this fall. Please don’t just read this, help us to return and continue to make a difference.  Thank you so much. I am counting on your help. No gift is too small, neither is any too large. The 70th Anniversary of the Exodus 1947 ship

Remembrance of key events in the modern history of Israel is a powerful way to preserve their significance. The “Exodus 1947” ship arrived in Palestine in July 1947 with 4500 hopeful new immigrants only to be intercepted by the British Navy. Most were turned back to Germany. It was a tragic event that added strength to the longing for and creation of the new State of Israel on May 14th 1948. This event was remembered by the unveiling of a bronze memorial to the ‘Exodus 47″‘ immigrant ship in Haifa harbour 70 year later. This touching event was attended by survivors of the ship now in their late 70’s to early 90’s.

Dear Friends:

This evening ushers in the saddest day on Israel’s calendar in ancient and
modern history. The Jewish people have suffered millenia of incredible losses. Both temples, Solomon’s and Herod’s were destroyed on this day, as was the Jewish Community of Spain in 1492 to name but three disasters.

Jews begin to fast from 7 p.m. until 8:15 p.m. tomorrow night with no water. They mourn the destruction and loss. It is also a time for repentance for the sins of our fathers. We weep over what has been lost and pray with longing and hope for the promised coming Redemption. Some Jews believe that Messiah will come on this sacred day, when the people have prepared themselves.

We read the book of Lamentations or Ek? in Hebrew. It sounds just like it is written… Ek… say it! Ek! This is literally an expression, even ‘a sound’ that one makes when there are no words…

The Rabbis teach that we have suffered destruction because of senseless hatred and evil speaking among ourselves. We were destroyed from within first… I ask you to pray for Israel and for Jerusalem’s peace. For again, “the heathen rage and imagine a vain thing…” there is foment, injustice, prejudice, hatred and unrest within our ranks. It should not be, it cannot be if Messiah is to return to us.

A Israeli believing friend just sent me the enclosed video. She is the child of Holocaust
survivors, the only one of her family who chose to make aliyah to Israel.

The prophet Jeremiah foresaw the following:

“Return O backsliding children, says the LORD; for I am married to you. I will take you, one from a city and two from a family, and I will bring you to Zion.

And I will give you shepherds according to My heart, who will feed you with knowledge and understanding.

At that time Jerusalem shall be called The Throne of the LORD, and all the nations shall be gathered to it, to the name of the LORD, to Jerusalem, NO more shall they follow the dictates of their evil hearts.

…You shall call Me, My Father (Abba), and not turn away from Me.”
Jeremiah 3:14, 15, 17,19b.

Joka päivä jännite lisääntyy täällä, etenkin Jerusalemissa

Veljet ja sisaret, rukoilkaa meidän puolestamme.   1. kirje tessalonikalaisille 5:25 Joka päivä jännite lisääntyy täällä, etenkin Jerusalemissa. Turvallisuusseikat kuuluvat elämäntapaan Israelissa. Mennessämme paikalliseen ostoskeskukseen kuljemme turvatarkastuksien läpi. Näin on tehty jo 20 vuoden ajan. Tällainen vain kuuluu jokapäiväisiin rutiineihin, mutta voimme aistia lisääntyvän levottomuuden ja lietsonnan sekä palestiinalaisten ‘tarpeen’ saada aikaan konflikti. Nämä ovat kovia sanoja, mutta surullisen totta!

Perusasioita:

• Viime viikolla kuoli 10 ihmistä.

• Viikko sitten aseistautuneet terroristit poistuivat Temppelivuorelta murhattuaan 2 nuorta Israelin puolustusvoimien druusipoliisia ja haavoitettuaan kolmatta, 3 palestiinalaista tapettiin.

• Israelin turvallisuusviranomaiset asensivat metallinpaljastimet Temppelivuorelle jokaiselle Al Aqsa-moskeijaan vievälle sisäänkäynnille varmistaakseen, ettei lisää aseita enää salakuljetettaisia alueelle.

• Mufti sanoi, että kaikkien tulisi kieltäytyä menemästä sinne ja protestoida kunnes turvalaitteet poistetaan. Kymmenet tuhannet kokoontuivat kaduille järjestääkseen rukouksista näytöksen ja hyökätäkseen sitten poliisien ja sotilaiden kimppuun.

• Mahmoud Abbas kehotti mielenosoittajia paljastamaan rintakehänsä julistaen:
”Tämä on meidän Al Aqsamme, tämä on meidän Pyhän haudan kirkkomme.” Koko juttu turvatarkastuksia vastaan on höpöä. Kaikkialla Israelissa on turvatarkastukset lähes jokaisessa rakennuksessa ja kaupassa ja kaikki tarkastetaan. Juutalaiset ja kristityt kulkevat turvatarkastuksen läpi päästäkseen Länsimuurille. Arabit, jotka huutavat näin villisti metallinpaljastimista kulkevat vaikeuksitta samojen turvatarkastusten läpi lentokentällä; ja kaiken kukkuraksi Israelin Bituach Leumin toimistojen sisäänkäynneistä, mistä he kiireellä hakevat sosiaaliavustuksensa! Ajatus protestoida metallinpaljastimia vastaan on naurettavaa tekopyhyyttä; vilkaistaanpa elektronisia turvatarkastuksia Mekassa!Miksi niitä vastaan ei nostettu valituksia?

• Abbas on katkaissut kaikki suhteet Israeliin. Muuten, lauantai-iltana saarrettiin 20 Hamasin aktiivia Länsirannalla. Hamas pyrkii suistamaan Abbasin vallasta… Israel on estänyt Länsirantaa hajoamasta Syyrian ja Irakin tavoin, vaan kuka sen uskoo?

”Te olette maan suola: mutta jos suola käy mauttomaksi, millä se saadaan suolaiseksi? Se ei enää kelpaa mihinkään muuhun kuin pois heitettäväksi ja ihmisten tallattavaksi.” Matteus 5:13 ”

Historia toistuu. Palestiinalaiset tietävät, ettei heillä ole voimaa sytyttää koko muslimimaailmaa Israelia vastaan kertomalla valhetta, että Israel ‘koskee’ heidän pyhään maahansa, Al Aqsa-moskeijaan. Rohkaisemme itseämme tiedolla, että ken koskee sormellaan Kaikkivaltiaan silmäterää, hän tekee niin vain tietyn ajan. Tämä on HÄNEN asiansa. Meidän työmme on seistä ja tehdä kaikki mahdollinen, koska viha on niin kouriintuntuvaa. ”Älkää koskeko voideltuihini, älkää tehkö pahaa profeetoilleni!” Psalmi 105:15

Palestiinalaiset haluavat hyökätä kaikkea vastaan, mikä on juutalaisille ja kristityille rakasta!

Huomaathan. Sapatti, Länsirannalla sijaitsevat pyhän paikat, Juudea ja Samaria, mukaan lukien Betlehem ja Temppelivuori.

Luetellaanpa miten UNESCO on ovelasti manipuloinut lainsäädäntöä ja miten se jättää Raamatun narratiivin huomiotta.

– Länsimuuri on nykyään islamilainen.

• Temppelivuori on islamilainen, juutalaiset eivät voi rukoilla siellä. Kuningas Daavid osti tuon maa-alueen.

• Patriarkkojen hautaluola Hebronissa on nykyään pelkästään islamilainen. Aabraham osti tuon maa-alueen hautapaikaksi Saaralle, itselleen, Jaakobille, Lealle, Iisakille ja Rebekalle. Seinällä näkyy kirjoitus.

• Palestiinalaiset ovat rohkaistuneet ja kerskuvat, että seuraava kiinteistökohde on Pyhän haudan kirkko… ortodoksikristityt uskovat, että Jeesus haudattiin sinne ja nousi sieltä kuolleista. Siitä on siis määrä tulla… niinpä, islamilainen!

• Myös teidän uskonne on hyökkäyksen kohteena, rakkaat kristityt. Havahtukaa ja tukekaa meitä tehdessämme omaa pyhää työtämme puhumalla ääneen ja olemalla elävästi läsnä täällä Israelissa. Kiitos. ÄLKÄÄ puhuko ja rukoilko palestiinalaisia vastaan, vaan anokaa, että ne, joiden on määrä pelastua myös pelastuvat – ennen kuin on liian myöhäistä. Aika on kulumassa loppuun meiltä kaikilta.

Heinäkuu 2017 Laskeskelimme eilen; tulin ensimmäistä kertaa Israeliin sen ollessa vain 17-vuotias ja Jay, 9-kuinen David ja minä tulimme Israeliin sen ollessa vasta 21-vuotias nuori nainen!Nykyään Israel on 70-vuotias vanha nainen, joka seisoo kansakuntien joukossa täysissä voimissaan. Vuosien mittaan se on seurannut elämäämme ja tarkastellut sitä lähietäisyydeltä. On ollut etuoikeus tehdä dokumentteja Israelin historiasta, monista taisteluista ja kukoistuksen lupauksista. Pidätkö Israelia hengellisenä kotimaanasi? Toista sinulla ei taivaan lisäksi olekaan. Mitä enemmän kristityt samaistuvat Israeliin, sitä enemmän he haluavat olla tekemisissä israelilaisten kanssa! JUURI NIIN! Olemme kiitollisia, että sinä kuulut heihin. Kirjoitan puhutellen sinua suoraan osoittaakseni selvästi, miten merkityksellinen olet perheellemme.

Haluamme sinun ymmärtävän, että ilman rukouksiasi, uskoasi, rakkauttasi ja uhraamistasi, emme olisi pystyneet elämään täällä. Sinä olet meidän näkymätön apumme! Sinä autat meitä pitämään soihdun palamassa ja loistamassa vihamielisyyden ja tietämättömyyden synkkien vaikutuspiirien suuntaan, jotka vastustavat tätä pikkuruista maata. Niinpä, fundamentalistinen islam työskentelee määrätietoisesti kirjoittaakseen uusiksi Israelin nykyisen ja raamatullisen historian – samalla myös teidän kristittyjen historian. Sinä olet auttanut meitä saamaan äänemme kuuluville kirjeiden, filmien, televisiolähetysten, puhujakiertueiden, kirjojen, lehtisten ja DVD-filmien välityksellä. Olethan päättäväinen JA jatkathan, vaikka voimamme olevatkin tällä hetkellä heikot. HERRA noustaa meidät täyteen voimaan! Luotamme siihen. Luulemmeko liikoja? Enpä usko. Teidän ‘kotipesällä’ olevien rukoukset ovat niitä suunniteltuja ja sovittuja keinoja, joilla Jumalan rakkauden käsivarsi vastaa Hänen palvelijoidensa kiperiin tarpeisiin. Elintärkeä rukous ei ole vain sanoja – se on teko! Jatkathan Jayn, minun ja poikiemme muistamista rukouksessa, jotta voimme tehdä vielä suurempia tekoja täältä Jerusalemista käsin.

Kansainvälinen kristillinen suurlähetystö Jerusalemissa

Seitsemän ja puoli viikkoa Jayn leikkauksen jälkeen olimme ensimmäisellä kokopäiväisellä retkellä Kansainvälisen kristillisen suurlähetystön kutsuvieraina Jerusalemissa. Vuonna 1980 me kaksi kuuluimme alkuperäisten kahdeksan perustajäsenen joukkoon. Israelia pidettiin tuolloin panttivankina. Kaikki suurlähetystöt – lukuunottamatta Costa Ricaa – lähtivät Jerusalemista, koska islamistit uhkasivat estää öljynsaannin koko talven ajan ajaksi! Vain kahdeksan meistä nousi vastustamaan tätä ja sanomaan teoillamme:
”EI!” Työskentelimme kohdaten islamin vihantäyteiset toimet, kun kaikki suurlähetystöt yhtä lukuunottamatta alistuivat. Emme voi sallia islamin kontrolloivan tulevaisuuttamme. Teimme työtä antaaksemme sinulle ja teille kaikille äänen tänne Jerusalemiin avaamalla oman suurlähetystön. Nykyään Jerusalemin kansainvälinen kristillinen suurlähetystö on historiallinen tosiasia, josta Israel on syvän kiitollinen. Sinä, joka olet rukoillut meidän Rawlingsien puolesta ja tukenut meitä vuosien mittaan, olet kiinteä osa tätä historiallista tekoa.

Kohtasimme yhdessä knessetin kansanedustajien ja useiden maiden suurlähettiläiden kanssa Haifan satamassa monia kuuluisalla EXODUS-laivalla saapuneita, vainoista hengissä selviytyneitä ihmisiä. Kuuntelimme tilaisuudessa selviytyneiden kertomuksia. He vaikuttivat iättömiltä ja nuorekkailta vaikka ovatkin iältään 93-, 89-, 87- ja 79-vuotiaita. Eräs heistä oli vasta 8 1/2 -vuotias poika matkaa tehdessään. Brittiläiset taistelulaivat törmäsivät EXODUS-laivan molempiin kylkiin surmaten 3 henkilöä. Haifan satamassa laivasta vietiin sairaat ja heidät kuljetettiin Kyprokselle. Loput britit lähettivät Hampuriin. Saksa siirsi heidät takaisin keskitysleireihin, joista he olivat päässeet pois. Monet kuolivat tuon prosessin aikana. Me vihimme muistomerkin tuolle epämukavalle historialliselle totuudelle. Britit eivät milloinkaan pyytäneet anteeksi.

Tiedämme, että KAIKKI voivat vaikuttaa. Tänä vuonna, Israelin 70-vuotisjuhlien vuonna, pyydän sinua seisomaan suorassa ja koko pituudessasi taivaan ja meidän tähtemme.  Meidän on oltava kestäväisiä ja tehtävä oma osamme, aivan kuten nuo hengissä selviytyneet tekivät! EXODUS-laivan murhenäytelmä järkytti kansakuntia, koska ei löytynyt YHTÄKÄÄN maata, joka olisi ottanut vastaan juutalaisia. Ei Kanada, ei Amerikka! Juutalaisilla ei ollut paikkaa minne mennä. Sen tuloksena David Ben Gurion julisti Israelin valtion toukokuussa1948, ja 12 minuuttia sen jälkeen presidentti Truman oli ensimmäinen maailmanjohtaja, joka äänesti Israelin olemassaolon oikeutuksen puolesta. Me kaikki muistamme niiden kahden vakoojan nimet, jotka antoivat Moosekselle hyvän raportin Israelin maasta. Vaan kuka muistaa huonon raportin tuoneiden 10 vakoojan nimet?

Ei siis milloinkaan unohdeta: Jeesus on Israelin verso. Seisothan yhä rinnallamme Israelin puolesta! Sitä et tule milloinkaan katumaan. Kirjoitettakoon tekosi taivaallisiin historiakirjoihin… Israelin unohtamisesta seuraisi nimen pois pyyhkiminen.

We were counting yesterday, and I came to Israel first when she was just a teen at 17 years. Jay, David 9 months and I came together when she was 21, just a young maiden! Today Israel is a matron at 70, with experience and wisdom, standing among the nations in full strength. Over the years, you have looked into our lives and examined us pretty closely. It has been our privilege to make documentaries which have shown Israel’s history, many of the ongoing battles and the promises of glory. Do you consider Israel as your spiritual homeland? You have no other, but heaven itself. The more Christians identify with Israel, the more they will choose to become involved with Israelis! YES!  We are thankful that you are in that number. I have personalized this scripture to drive home just how meaningful you are to our family.

We know that this will turn out for our deliverance through your prayer and the supply of the Spirit of Messiah. Philippians 1:19

What we want you to see is that without your prayers, your faith, love and offerings, we would not be able to sustain life here. You are our invisible help meet! You help us keep the ‘torch’ alight and shining out into the dark realms of hostility and ignorance against this tiny land. Yes, Fundamentalist Islam is working determinedly to rewrite, Biblical and modern Israeli history along with your Christian history. You have helped us to speak out via letters, films, TV shows, speaking tours, books, booklets and DVD’s. Please be determined AND continue; even though we are in a weakened position at this time. The LORD will raise us up to full strength! We count on it.

Are we presumptuous. I don’t think so.  By your prayers those of us living on the front lines can be liberated and sustained from constricting and difficult circumstances.  Thank you for choosing to be a part of the lives of “kingdom warriors” in the battle field of real life. Prayer by you folks at home-base is the appointed means by which God’s arm of love reaches out to the crying needs of his servants. Vital prayer is not just a word – it is an act!  Please continue to lift up Jay, myself and our sons to produce even greater works out of Jerusalem.

International Christian Embassy Jerusalem

Seven and a half weeks after Jay’s surgery, we enjoyed our first all day outing as the invited guests of the International Christian Embassy Jerusalem. Back in 1980, we were 2 of the 8 original Founders. Israel was held hostage at that time. All the Embassies except Costa Rica left Jerusalem due to Islamic threats of no oil that winter! Just eight of us stood up and by our actions said, “NO!”  We worked to counter Islam’s hate filled actions, when all the Embassies capitulated except one. We cannot allow Islam to control our future.  We worked to give you a voice here in Jerusalem by opening your Embassy. The International Christian Embassy Jerusalem is now a fact of history, for which Israel is profoundly grateful.  You who have prayed for us Rawlings and supported us over the years, are an integral part of this historical act.

In Haifa’s port, we met several remaining survivors of the famous EXODUS ship along with Knesset Members and the Ambassadors of many nations. We listened to their personal testimonies. At ages 93, 89, 87 and 79 years, they seemed ageless and youthful. One man was a mere boy of eight and a half when he made the journey. The EXODUS, rammed on both sides of it’s hull by British battle ships, killed 3. The sick were removed from the ship in Haifa’s port and shipped off to Cyprus. The British sent the rest to Hamburg. Germany put them put back into the concentration camps they had come out of. Many died in the process. We dedicated a memorial to this inconvenient historical fact. The British have never apologized.

We know that we ALL can make a difference. In this year of Israel’s 70th anniversary, I ask you to stand tall for heaven’s sake and ours. We have to endure and do our part, just as these survivors did! The tragedy of the EXODUS shocked the nations, because there was NO nation who would take the Jews. Not Canada, not America! Jews had no place to go. As a result, 12 minutes after David Ben Gurion declared the State of Israel in June 1948, President Truman was the first world leader to vote for Israel’s right to exist. We all remember the names of the two spies who gave Moses a good report about the land of Israel. But, who remembers the names of the 10 spies with bad reports?

Let us never forget Jesus is the scion of Israel! Continue to stand with us for Israel! You will never regret it. Let your acts be recorded in the annuals of heaven’s history… forget Israel and became a write off. Everyday tension is growing here, especially in Jerusalem

Brothers and sisters pray for us… 1 Thessalonians 5:25

Everyday tension is growing here, especially in Jerusalem. Security is a way of life in Israel. To go in to our local mall we pass through two security checks. We have been doing this for 20 years now. It is just a part of our daily routine, but we can sense the growing unrest and foment, and the ‘need’ the Palestinians have for conflict.  These are hard words, but sadly true!

Facts on the Ground:

  • In the last week, 10 people have died.
  • One week ago armed terrorists exited the Temple Mount with weapons, murdering 2 young Druze police IDF officers and wounded a 3rd guarding the area, 3 Palestinians were killed.
  • Israeli security installed metal detectors at each entrance to the Al Aska Mosque, the Temple Mount area, to insure that no more arms are smuggled inside.
  • The Mufti said all should refuse to enter and protest until the security was removed. Tens of thousands gather in the streets to make a show of prayer, then attack the police and soldiers.
  • Mahmoud Abbas called for protestors to “bare their chests” claiming “This is our Al Aqsa, This is our Church of the Holy Sepulchre”. The whole idea of objecting to security checks is nonsense. All over Israel there are security checks in almost every building and store and everyone is checked. Jews and Christians go through security to reach the Western Wall. Arabs who are screaming so wildly about metal detectors, have no problem going through those same security checks at the airport or most poignantly, at the offices of Israel’s Bituach Leumi where they rush to collect their welfare cheques! The idea of protesting metal detectors is ridiculous hypocrisy~just have a look at the electronic security in Mecca! Why has there been no complaints about that?
  • Abbas has broken off all relationships with Israel. Who by the way, rounded up 29 Hamas operatives inside of the West Bank Saturday night. Hamas works to bring down Abbas…  Israel has kept the West Bank from rotting away like Syria and Iraq, but who believes it?

History is repeating itself. The Palestinians know they have power to ignite the entire Muslim world against Israel with the lie that Israel is ‘touching’ their sacred ground, the Al Asqua Mosque. We encourage ourselves knowing that one can stick his or her finger in the eye of the Almighty only so long. It is HIS call. Our work is to stand and having done all to stand therefore because the hatred is so palpable. “Touch not mine anointed and do my prophets no harm.”

The one thing the Palestinians want to attack is the very thing the Jews and Christians love!

Pay attention.  The Shabbat, the Holy Sites found in the West Bank, Judea and Samaria, including Bethlehem and the Temple Mount. 

To date UNESCO has slyly manipulated legislature and works to ignore the Biblical narrative.

–  The Western Wall is now Islamic.

  • The Temple Mount is Islamic, Jews cannot pray there. King David purchased this land.
  • The Cave of the Patriarchs in Hebron is now only Islamic. Abraham bought the land, as a burial place for Sarah.  Abraham, Jacob, Leah, Isaac and Rebecca. The hand writing is on the wall.
  • Palestinians have been embolden, and are boasting that their next piece of real-estate will be the Holy Seplecure… where orthodox Christians believe Jesus was buried and resurrected. It is to become… yes, Islamic!
  • Your faith is also under attack dear Christians. Please wake up and support us in our holy work to speak out and be a living viable presence here in Israel. Thank you. Speak out and raise prayer NOT against the Palestinians, but that those who are to be saved will be saved before it is too late. Time is running out for us all.
