Still Small Voice – Tammuz 24th, 5783. July 13th, 2023.

Dear Friends:

“Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and you shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto : for everyone that asks receives; and he that seeks finds; and to him that knocks it shall be opened.  The LORD redeems the soul of his servants: and none of them who take refuge in Him will be condemned (desolate).”

Matthew 7:7,8, Psalm 34:22.

In my letter this week we are going to delve into some of the heart wrenching disasters overtaking our nation of Israel and that of Canada. But first, we want to use King David’s pattern of praise to express his love and longing to draw closer to the Almighty by praising HIm. Worship brings me in touch with HIs greatness, and reminds me again and again of the inestimable gift of LIFE.  This morning one of my sons announced, “The Lord God created Time, it is in His hands, it belongs to Him, and His timing is not our but…it is the best. He is never late. Our work is to trust and obey!” Amen.

I wake up calling out to the LORD. I can’t help it. What is life here without Him? For me it would be utterly impossible. Prayer with thanksgiving breaks fear that is stalking our nations at this time in history. Try it you will like it and enjoy reading a portion of the Psalms everyday, along with a portion of both Covenants. That is what I do and always find solace for the day ahead.

Fear and Chaos inside and outside of Israel:

This week in the course of doing business Jay and I drove deep into the heart of many Muslim neighborhoods. The tension in the streets is palpable, and yes, I felt afraid. We were in Silwan, which is the Muslim quarter south of the Temple Mount. If you have visited Israel in the last few years you will have see the excavation of David’s City. This is the area, where this short video was shot.

Follow this with another sector of society protesting: Riots are taking place weekly since January. This week, it was blockage of the Ben Gurion Airport, and main highways. There is no end it seems. Through it all, our government continues to move towards Judicial Reform. The sentiments of most demonstrators is: “The government’s agenda is alarming to us and terrifying, and includes a Jewish Ultra-Religious state, based on Jewish supremacy. There will be no rights for women, LGBT people and other minorities. It will include the annexation of the territories and apartheid.”

News Junkies:

Israelis are fixed on the news, and it adds no quietness to one’s other wise very  demanding and pressured life here. The bus and taxi drivers turn the news up when it comes on every hour. Citizens carry their phones and are using them 24/7 during any spare moment. Terror attacks, come non stop inside of Israel. Trouble in the Palestinian Authority only increases. The role of the army in response, only leads to more pain. We were in a pharmacy in the Old City of Jerusalem and the person who served us was very vocal. “There are many disasters going on around the world, but here the people are the disaster… after all didn’t they killed Jesus!”

Drive if you dare:

In West Jerusalem the tension persists. The roads are hazardous as anger, impatience, and frustration rule most drivers it seems. They are particularly intolerance and rude to senior drivers. One taxi driver cut us off and cursed us for  holding him up.

Canadian Children the Target:

Having devoted many years of my life to working with children of all ages, damaged by sexual abuse I am forwarding this alarm coming out of Canada. My book tracing the familiar history of incest, is still available on Amazon: Stain Remover by Dr. Meridel Rawlings.

Speaking out:

In the following interview, you will hear Canadian Jordan Pedersen’s response to a high school teacher in Christchurch New Zealand. Her question: “What is the best way I can stand up against WOKE idealism and not be cancelled?”

I hope you enjoy two of my favorite musicians, Yair Levy and Joshua Aaron.

With that I shall close for now. Thank you for your comments.

We thank you for your prayers and send you our love and blessings from Jerusalem and tuck us into too please.

Still Small Voice – June 23rd, 2023

Dear Friends:

Now is the time to pray and not to faint.

“Oh that you would keep me from evil.”

1 Chronicles 4:10

“The LORD shall preserve you from all evil: He shall preserve your soul. I will redeem you from the hand of the wicked and I will redeem you out of the hand of the terrible.”

Proverbs 30:7-9, Psalm 121:7

“Because you have kept the word of my patience, I also will keep from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.”

Revelation 3:10

Israel:

Blood continues to be spilled, murders, drive by shootings, looting, burning cars and homes, 8 IDF solders wounded, up to 90 Palestinians wounded, severe confrontation on both sides… Where does it all end? We watched as two helicopter gunships made their very noise way across the sky above our home to rescue 8 trapped solders in the hot bed of Jenin in the Palestinian Authority.

The internal war seems never ending. People are quite worn out.

Israel has announced the completion of a hypersonic missile that moves at 5 – 13 times the speed of sound. It is a whole new level of technology in weapons systems.

The Temple Mount is in news this week. Amith ha Levy created a bill in the Israeli parliament to petition the north end of the Temple Mount for Israel’s use, and the southern end for the Muslims. Keep watching to see what happens. In 1980 we lived in the Jewish Quarter of the Old City of Jerusalem and a Scots Professor of Maths came for tea; he brought his maps with him. He had spent months measuring all aspects of the Temple Mount. He surmised that the Jewish Temple could actually constructed on the northern area of the Temple compound, near the Dome of the Spirits.  Using this location, would not disturb the mosque.  And so history is repeating itself and this is the current topic of hot discussion, in the midst of all other concerns. That was 43 years ago…let’s see how it all unfolds in the coming days.

USA:

Shaking is taking place as promised. Curiously President Biden has made a secret unwritten agreement with Iran through the auspices of Yemen.  Apparently they decided; Iran promises to keep its emissions its 60% and the US will lift many sanctions … O. K. Are we that gullible? How can this so called agreement, possibly hold water?

Prophetic declarations spoken by Robin Bullock on May 5, 2023, at Shiloh in West Bank, Israel, during the Elijah List Israel tour:

Robin declares: “Oh, Lord of the heavens, we lift our hands in this place today, and we declare over the land of Israel… In this place, we declare the prayer of Hannah. ‘And Hannah prayed, and said, “My heart rejoices in the LORD; mine horn is exalted in the LORD: my mouth is enlarged over mine enemies; because I rejoice in Thy salvation.”’  1Samuel 2:1

“Listen close to the proclamation and a prophetic prayer over Israel, and please join your faith with me as we do this.”‘There is none holy as the LORD: for there is none beside Thee: neither is there any rock like our God. Talk no more so exceedingly proudly; let not arrogance come out of your mouth: for the LORD is a God of knowledge, and by Him actions are weighed.’ (1 Samuel 2:2-3)

“Let the enemies of Israel hear these things. Let all those that would rise up against this nation hear this proclamation!

“‘The bows of the mighty men are broken, and they that stumbled are girded with strength. They that were full have hired out themselves for bread; and they that are hungry ceased: so that the barren hath born seven; and she that hath many children is waxed feeble. The LORD kills, and makes alive: He brings down to the grave, and brings up. The LORD makes poor, and makes rich: He brings low, and lifts up. He raises up the poor out of the dust, and lifts up the beggar from the dunghill, to set them among princes, and to make them inherit the throne of glory: for the pillars of the earth are the LORD’s, and He hath set the world upon them.’ (1 Samuel 2:4-8)

“Hear this, O world that would dare stand against Israel and stand to annihilate the Jewish State, for this shall not be. For surely the Lord our God is in this place. Surely He is here, for we will not forget Him. For why was there not a Samson on Masada? Why was there not a David coming there from Ein Gedi? Why? Because religion had choked the life down to nothing. And though there was a cry and hunger for God, faith could not be found.”

Robin sings:

“For we stop the ‘Beast of the East.’
The Beast of the East will not rise in this moment.
For we declare: Beast from the East—
Stop where you are!
For you will not prevail here.

“For our God is God! The God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. He is God, and beside Him there is no other God! He’s the one and only true living God. He’s not found on an idol of stone, glass, metal, or bronze. He is the God of the universe. He’s the God who created all there is! He is our life and the length of our days, and He is the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the King of glory, the Messiah, the One and Only! Give Him praise! Hallelujah! And He is the protector of Israel. He is a protector of the land of Israel.

Song: Do Not Leave Us

Every blessing from our home here in Jerusalem:

To you and yours wherever you may be.

Sincerely,

Meridel Rawlings.

Still Small Voice – Sivan 27th 5783, June 16th 2023.

Dear Friends:

“The secret [the wise counsel] of the LORD is with them that fear Him: and He will let them know His covenant. But there is a God in heaven that reveals secrets … Yet these are just parts [fringes] of His ways. The faintest whisper of His voice!”

Psalm 25:14a, Daniel 2:28a

I hunger to hear His voice, and it is usually during the night that I receive my instructions… even directions for loved ones. I must deliver the information in a very gentle manner, as no one likes ‘to be told what to do’. But the Still Small voice is directive, and always right on time, so faithful, positive and ‘can do’. His track record is PERFECT. This is His gift to me, and I we are made rich in Him!

The week dashed by, in a blur because of the incessant activity required of us just now. We are in the process of moving out of our home of 30 years. Thank you for your kind thoughts and prayers at this time.

Weather:

The most unexpected has happened. We’ve had two thunderous rain storms this week. Formerly, June was summer, but not this year. We are wearing socks and sweaters and flannelette P.J.’s at night. We must close all of our windows at night because it is so cold up here in Jerusalem. I snapped the above photo as Jay was driving from Jerusalem to Mevasseret Zion.

The Hebrew Corner:

Olam, = world and forever

“I declare, ‘A world of kindness will be built; there in the heavens You establish Your faithfulness. I will extol You, my God and king, and bless Your name forever and ever.”

Psalms 89:3, 145:1

“The Bible describes God’s dominion over the olam – the world, and using the same word, highlights His dominion in l’olam – infinite and eternal. Olam shares a grammatical root with the Hebrew word ne’elam, meaning ‘hidden’. Jewish thinkers explain that many more worlds exist beyond the physical one that we experience in our everyday lives. These are the upper spiritual realms, including the realm of the angels, that both influence and are influenced by our physical world, specifically through human actions. The higher the world, the more singular it becomes, tending towards unity. At the very top of all of the worlds is the pure unity of God. To the human eye, however, the deeper aspects of our world remain hidden. We struggle to see and comprehend the ways God is directly involved in each and every moment of our lives. The world’s true reality remains hidden from our eyes. Before the world was created only God existed. There was no one to give to. God created the world so that there would be creations capable of receiving what He wants to give. “And God created man in His own image” Genesis 1:27  – Rabbi Tuly

Meridel adds: You and I are offered the privilege of a love relationship with our Beloved Messiah Yeshua – Jesus. As we receive, so we learn to give to others. In this way, we emulate our Creator, and fulfill the purpose of the world’s creation. A loving relationship has to be a reciprocal one of trust. This enables us to receive Salvation, and all that comes with Shalom … only then do we desire to give it away!

Pioneers:

Tim and Martha King and the Rawlings go back to 1980. Tim is the Godfather of our four boys, now [men]. Tim is a friend at all times. He was also instrumental along with us and others in forming the International Christian Embassy and worked as their accountant for 27 faithful years. Today he carries the esteemed title of: Jerusalem co-operates Ambassador/Dean of Students and Staff for The Whole Word Institute. Being a chef, he served Jay and I a duck dinner this week. He informed us: there are 7,000 languages in the world, and only 700 have translations of the Bible, which includes the Old Testament, or First Covenant.

From Generation to Generation:

Dor v’ dor,  is Hebrew for ‘from generation to generation’: the poignant theme of Bridges for Peace dinner, honoring former CEO Becky Brimmer. She gave 18 action-packed years to this work of supporting and loving Israel in very practical ways. We met, Canadian Peter Fast, her successor. Photos: What’s app.  Caption: Becky introducing Peter to Jay. The Brimmer’s worked along side of Jay at  Jerusalem Vistas in 1990 – 1991.

Daniel Kirschhevel head of Israeli Operations and Roy Kendall formerly of the USA Jerusalem Vistas Board.
Jay with our dear friend Chris Mitchell, Jerusalem’s Bureau Chief for the Christian Broadcasting Network. Chris famously said to Jay in 2017, “You and your sons have pioneered Christian media here, and we at CBN stand on your shoulders.”

The Canadian Church Under Fire:

“And so [at that time] all Israel will be saved; just as it is written: The Deliverer (Messiah) will come from Zion, He will remove ungodliness from Jacob. This is My Covenant with them, when I take away their sins.”

Romans 11:22-27, Isaiah 27:9, Jeremiah 31:33

Yes, there is hope for our radical societies lost to the woke world. All Israel shall be saved… and preach the gospel to the four corners of the earth. There is a remnant of the Jewish people living in the Land of Israel right now that are going to have a radical encounter with the living LORD.  Only one Paul went to the nations and turned them upside down. What would it mean if hundreds of Pauls went forth from Israel? But Abba Father hasn’t even made His move yet … In the meantime, we are rapidly approaching the fullness of the gentile age.

The Buzz Word, ‘AI’:

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu revealed that he had spoken with billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk about A.I., ahead of the development of Israel’s ‘national’ AI strategy. “Soon I will assemble experts to develop a national AI strategy for Israel. Just as we turned Israel into a cyber powerhouse, we’ll repeat that success in AI!”

Musk later responded to Netanyahu in writing, “Thank you for recognizing safety concerns about digital super-intelligence, which affects all of humanity.” June 8/23 United for Israel

Your Responses:

A Word from Russia:

“Much of the current surge in immigration to Israel has been sparked by the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February of last year. In the 16 months since, over 104,000 Russian-speaking Jews have moved to Israel. About one-quarter fled the war in Ukraine, but surprisingly the vast majority are arriving from Russia and other former Soviet states to escape the economic impact and other uncertainties brought on by the conflict.” Howard Flower, St Petersburg

A Canadian Mother Speaks Out:

The Prophet Jeremiah, labored to stay restful in the secret place; while living in the thick of national chastening.”

MANY of us are extremely aware of Israel’s situation as much as we can be. We are praying. Thank you for updating us. We are quiet because Canada has a leader with a hardened heart … (allowed by God for His ultimate purposes, like Pharaoh in the Exodus.) Father God works to free His people from slavery. We have just endured a gay pride week in the schools! Lots of ‘gay’ stories, discussions and projects taught by compliant teachers with haughty principles. We had a lewd bubble dance day for the kids. I think of Noah building an ark while seeing lewdness all around him. I hosted an alternative Robin Hood day for children to learn bush-skills and nature trail activities such as; tracking, making rope from cedar bark, starting a fire from flint and steel, etc.” Ann-ominous

From a former co-worker:

“ I think of you and Jay often. I always love to read your letters and get news of you. Your family unit have been such a blessing to me and many others. God is pleased with you and loves your adoration of Him.“ Alice Ford USA

“Give me Hand”, Hebrew with English subtitles.

Shabbat Shalom dear friends.

Let us strive to enter into His rest.

Blessings from

Meridel Rawlings.

Still Small Voice – Sivan 20th 5783,  June 9th 2023

Dear Friends:

“Then the angel said to me,‘Write: Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the lamb… I am a fellow servant with your brothers and sisters who have and hold the testimony of Jesus. Worship God [alone]. For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy [His life and teachings are the heart of prophecy].”

Rev.19:9a,10,b. Amplified

The Everlasting Kingdom:

Is there anything on earth that compares to the love of brothers and sisters in Jesus? The flow of acceptance and joy in the ‘other’ brings strength. And so it was this week here in Israel. This week, we were invited to a beautiful resort, Yad ha Shmoneh created (out of a garbage dump) on the Hills of Benjamin just 5 minutes from our home. (One of our sons enjoyed his Hebrew wedding here a year ago.) Rabbi Jonothan Bernis of Jewish Voice Broadcasts threw a party for many of the Messianic leaders of Israel. What a joy to meet dear old friends and make new ones. The food was fit for the wedding of a king. Thank you, Jonothan.

Rabbi Jonothan and Mrs Bernis

Upon entering these hallowed grounds, the first person we met was Nathan Bivin. He was our son Chris’ lifelong boyhood friend and grew up in our house. His parents are David and Josa Bivin. David is a Hebrew scholar of the School of the Synoptic Gospels and founded Jerusalem Perspectives blog: a treasure trove for anyone wanting to learn the Hebrew roots of the Bible. He and others like Dr. Robert Lindsay spent their lives putting the Gospels into modern Hebrew. Many of the sayings of Jesus are pure Hebrew idioms, it is a privilege to know them both.

We were greeted by Rabbi Jonothan. “Oh Jay, let me tell you again, that when you came to my synagogue in Rochester New York, 43 years ago, my life was challenged and forever changed. You showed your film Gates of Brass on the plight of Soviet Jewry. As a result I was challenged to move to Russia and pastor.”

Yes, Jonothan led thousands of Russians to Jesus, as the Soviet Jews were coming home in the early 1990’s. Father God poured out His Holy Spirit all over Russia just as the Bible promises. Please see this incredible scriptural principal, promising REVIVAL in the nations where Father God brings his Jewish children out of, and back home to Israel. Pause and take a moment to study Ezekiel 36:22-28.

Driving home, Jay said, “This is what heaven is going to be like.”

Jay and Meridel with Elisheva Dumkani, believing for Ya’covs healing

We were so blessed and edified sharing our pioneering stories one with another. The Kingdom of God is growing here and will never stop bearing fruit, all to the glory of our Messiah Yeshua. It was a touch of heaven, and oh how we needed it!

A few days ago we also again enjoyed a second Zoom meeting with Pastor Noel Mal’s church in Charlottetown Prince Edward Island. There is NO distance in prayer and praying together with the Body is perhaps our greatest privilege in this life.

Our Reality on the Ground:

Minister of Defense Yoav Gallant said this week. “If, God forbid, a war occurs, the Israeli home front is expected to face challenges the likes of which we have never known in our 75 years of existence. This requires us to be prepared in advance, with optimal preparation.”

Thank you for keeping Israel in your prayers.

Rest:

Let us not be weary in well doing dear friends. Let’s decide to take time out to smell the roses and be refreshed, the days are dark and the road ahead long…

“For in six days God made heaven and earth and sea—and all that is in them—and then rested on the seventh day; therefore God blessed the Shabbat day and hallowed it.”

Exodus 20:11

Menucha in Hebrew means rest, first used in the relationship between the Great Creator and His Creation! He established the seventh day, Shabbat, as a day of rest for all time and all creatures. Provision was created for all souls to have a day each week to rest and reflect upon the purpose of our existence in this world.

The Bible also uses menucha – rest in reference to the Land of Israel. The people of Israel were promised rest. Sadly, since becoming a nation in their own land in 1948, we don’t know any people who work harder than Israelis. A tough reality.“For you have not yet come to the resting place and to the inheritance which the LORD your God is giving you.” Deuteronomy 12:9

Why do we keep missing out? We all know that this land, historically is tragically soaked in the blood of all nations and it isn’t over yet. Do remember us in prayer.

Rashi, the great Bible commentator, taught that Menucha  – rest is a fitting word for the site of the Tabernacle in Shiloh. Its purpose was to create a physical space for God’s presence to rest in the midst of the people of Israel and all of humanity. Yet, Eli the last keeper of this holy space and his wicked sons were all killed in one day. The two Temples as hallowed as they were supposed to be were also destroyed. Do we really think building a third is going to be the answer?

King David uses menucha – rest to describe the rest and tranquility that only God can provide to one’s soul. Oh, David has the secret! “He makes me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters, He restores my soul…” Psalm 23:2,3.

Your Responses:

Thank you for your prayers for the many people groups within Israel.

“Pray for the peace (completeness) of Jerusalem, may they prosper  (heart peace-rest) that love you.”  I God, will bless those who bless the Jewish people. I God will curse those who curse them, and in their seed the whole world will be blessed.”

Psalm 122:6, Genesis 12:3

The Messiah came to us from Israel! Never forget it, dear friends.

Quote:

Yes may the mighty spirit-filled Warriors stand on guard over the nations of the Earth standing with Israel. The need for Warriors for Canada  is great, as we see the tyrannical activities of our Prime Minister. May the Lord continue to strengthen you all and all the major challenges that you are involved in as we approach the return of the King of Kings and the Lord of Lord.”

Rev. Ralph Rutledge

True Beauty:

“No man spoke like this man. You are fairer than the children of men: grace is poured into your lips: therefore God has blessed you forever. This is my beloved and this is my friend.”

John 7:46, Psalm 45:2,Song of Songs 5:16

We are sending blessings to you from Jerusalem.

Still Small Voice – 13 Sivan 5783 – June 3rd 2023

Dear Friends:

Thank you for your many responses this week. I promise to answer each one. All over Israel at this time, beautiful jacaranda trees are in full dress, covered with their large bunches of purple blooms. We have two of these great shade trees in our garden. See the cover photo.

My desire in this edition of Still Small Voice is to bring you into our world for the purpose of prayer corresponding to the Father’s heart for needed change.

“Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you through and through, [that is separate you from profane and vulgar things, make you pure and whole and undamaged – consecrated to Him – set apart for His purpose]; and may your spirit and soul and body be kept complete and blameless at the coming of Messiah.”

1 Thessalonians 5:23

Intense Turmoil:

All week, the skies over Jerusalem have been filled with turmoil and the incessant thunderous roar of jets as they soar high overhead out of sight night and day. We are on high alert; ready for attacks from, Syria, Lebanon and Gaza and within Israel itself. Then there is the Iranian threat. Israel’s Minister of Defense, according to the Jerusalem Post, Fri. June 2. 2023 stated “Yoav Gallant thinks Israel is close to the time where it will have no choice but to act.” (He has said so publicly, but he really means it.) We believe that the day when Israel will be left alone by the nations, is fast approaching.

Crazy Weather:

We enjoyed two days in Galilee with old friends, and the weather was a blistering 42C with a sand storm driven in from Egypt by fierce winds. We had hoped for a dip in the Sea of Galilee but were disappointed. In mid-May some industrial complex dumped poison into the lake. Consequently, fish lay dead along the shores and all fisherman had to destroy their catches, so as not to harm the public. Bathing was forbidden. I believe the all clear has been give now.

Religious Intolerance:

“There is no religious freedom in Israel.” Rabbi Maya Leibowitz

This has been the experience of many synagogues who serve non-orthodox communities. Our day care facilities were fire-bombed three times in the 1990’s. It is important for you to understand that everyone feels the restrains here.

This January the new government made the following decrees. If a woman is found down at the Western Wall dressed inappropriately, reading the Torah or wearing a prayer shawl, she will be punished. In February a lady defiantly put a bikini on under her sweater and skirt, which she foolishly removed took off down at the wall leaving her in just a skimpy swim suit. How distasteful! Yes, and definitely disrespectful. She now has the following choice:  6 months in prison or a 10,000 – shekel fine. This is obviously used as a deterrent to other acts of disrespect.  So, dear Christian ladies, DO NOT visit this area with  short skirts or sleeveless tops. Do not be reading the first five books of the Bible and do not wrap a prayer shawl around your shoulders!

Orthodox Jews spit at Christian Worshippers:

The event was billed as: Pentecost 2023: Global Day of Prayer for Jerusalem and the Nations. The primary purpose of the event was prayer for Israel and the peace of Jerusalem and the world. Prominent Jewish Zionist leaders led protesters to speak out against Christians who proselytize Jews in Israel. They were outraged and disrupted the event.

Most Christians are largely unaware of the history of Christian anti-semitism. Most are ignorant of the suspicion felt by most in the Jewish community. Trying to pull Jews away from their Jewish faith toward Christianity is understood as an attack on the Jewish people and the Jewishness of Israel. Great damage is done to the trust factor between these two communities by such actions. Among the organizers were prominent ministries and partners that do support or actively engage in efforts to preach Christianity to Jews in Israel. In a number of the speeches, references were given to their goal of the Jewish people accepting Jesus. None of those present live in the land or properly understand history.

It must also be said that the behavior of the protesters was shameful and damaging to the Jewish people first. Spitting and harassment of rude visitors, or scuffling with security personnel do nothing to improve the Jewish relationship with the nations of the world. It is nothing less than a desecration of God’s name. This type of thing gives Israel terrible media coverage globally, and makes insensitive Christians feel they have done right. They were guests in our country. Where does respect for one’s brother come in?

“To my Christian friends, study the history of Christian anti-Jewish doctrines and behavior. Be sensitive to Jewish identity, for our relationship to continue to grow and thrive. Respect our faith and our covenantal relationship to the God of our fathers without trying to change who we are. Otherwise, this friendship is no friendship at all.”  Executive Director of Ohr Torah Stone’s Center for Jewish-Christian Understanding and Cooperation.  Jerusalem Post June 2/2023 pg.20

Jay and I have always been welcome to share our own life’s experience. But when it’s all said and done, example is the best teacher. No one likes to be preached to. We don’t always have to be ‘right’! We often just need to listen, and be a friend.

I hope I have given you much to pray about this coming week. Your response?

Every blessing from our home to yours:

Meridel Rawlings

Kavod, Hebrew for “honor,” appears in the fifth of the Ten Commandments when God directs us to honor our parents. Together with God, our parents gave us the greatest possible gift – our very lives! In Jewish law, children are obligated to actively honor their parents in many different ways, including feeding them and helping them get dressed when they grow old, not calling them by name and not sitting in their designated seat. Honoring one’s parents is so important, it is one of only two commandments in the entire Bible rewarded with a promise of long life.

We are also instructed to give honor to others, even as we ourselves must flee from honor. The Talmud teaches: “Who is honored? The one who gives honor to others.” By not focusing on our own honor and being concerned more with the honor of others, we become truly worthy of being honored! In particular, the Bible directs us to honor our elders: “You shall rise before the aged and show deference to the old” (Leviticus 19:32).

The Bible also instructs us to honor Shabbat. We do so by observing the many laws of Shabbat, wearing special clothes, and eating delicious foods. If one comes across a special food during the course of the week, it is proper to set it aside and eat it on Shabbat, to honor the holy day of rest. On Shabbat we recognize that God created the entire world and everything in it, and so by honoring Shabbat, we honor God.

Still Small Voice – Shavuot – Feast of Pentecost 5th Sivan 5783/25. Mai 2023

Leibe Freunde

“Alles, was Odem hat, soll Gott loben, Halleluja!”

Psalm 150:6

Still Small Voice / Shavuot – Feast of Pentecost, 5th Sivan 5783. May 25th 2023.

Dear Friends;

I love writing the Still Small Voice to you, but alas, I hear almost nothing back.

We trust and pray that this letter will be relevant and minister to you at Pentecost.

We are celebrating the Feast of Shavuot – Pentecost, which began on the 49th day of the counting of the Omer. What is that, you ask? Well, originally it was the counting of sheaves of wheat as offerings in the temple for the period after Passover up to Shavuot. In Christianity, Pentecost is celebrated on the 50th day after Easter. For both religions the 49 days include a time of restraint from celebrating or eating certain foods; in Christianity, it is called lent

Shavuot:

Today, we shared a Zoom call with Pastor Noel’s congregation in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Canada. I explained that in Israel everything is “show and tell”.  Now is actually the wheat and barley harvest. Up in Galilee and on the Golan, the harvest as been gathered in. The wheat has been gathered, leaving huge bales of straw strewn across the fields. It is also a time of great fruitfulness as evidenced in the market stalls.  We have a second harvest again at the Feast of Tabernacles in September/October, and we see the same incredible fruitfulness. This Feast commemorates the giving of the Law to Moses on Mount Sinai.

Pentecost:

The ‘other worldly’ Biblical chapter of Acts chapter 1 opens with the outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon the body of Jewish believers gathered in Jerusalem at the command of Jesus who said: “But wait in the city of Jerusalem until you are clothed with power from on high.”

Luke 24:49

For all of the 120 gathered together, their lives were renovated by the power of God as promised.  They were commissioned as ambassadors for the kingdom on heaven of earth and were so charged with the Presence and Power of the Almighty that Peter witnessed and 3,000 souls came to Messiah the same day in Jerusalem. They set the known world at that time on fire for God, and they paid the ultimate price. The cost of discipleship to follow the King of heaven bears the name cost today.

The War on the Ground:

Have you ever prayed this scripture? I have.

“If only you would tear the heavens open and come down, so that mountains would quake at your presence.”

Isaiah 64:1

Canada under Fire:

Don’t we all feel like this as things seem only to worsen?  Jay joins me in our calling out the double standard my birth nation is groaning under. For example, here is a short clip of how the Canadian PM disgraced himself and his people.

Alberta under Attack:

A most urgent need is prayer for the Canadian  Province of Alberta facing an election for Premier. The war is on as Alberta is the 4th wealthiest area globally for natural resources. The Federal government backed by China is doing its best to claw these rights away from the  local inhabitants.

Israel under Siege:

Meanwhile in the early hours of this morning, the current Israeli government, the Knesset, passed the new budget and the Economic Arrangements Law, passed in the early hours this morning, 64 pro, 55 against. The dispute covers the 14 billion shekels of special allocations for the needs of the coalition party members. (It goes into the coffers of the Ultra Orthodox and no thought was given to the rising taxation and mortgages born by the hard working middle class. Many feel we have been hijacked by rising inflation.)

I repeat this cry:

“If only you would tear the heavens open and come down, so that mountains would quake at your presence.”

Isaiah 64:1

But at the moment as I Meridel, write to you, the nation of Israel is quiet. You see the Sabbath rest of this Feast is here. We turn to the LORD with all of our hearts and say “thank you” from a heart full of gratefulness for the magnificent gift of life. No matter what man is trying to do.

“Let everything that has breath praise God, Hallelujah!”

Psalm 150:6

בכל יום אברכך ואהללה שמך לעולם ועד

Hallel, the Hebrew word for “praise,” is the linguistic root of the most common word used in the worship of God by people around the world: Hallelujah!

The primary goal of Hallel is recognizing God’s ability to override the laws of nature and perform miracles and acts of salvation on our behalf. By praising God, we recognize the goodness that is in the world and in our own lives. King David taught us how to open our hearts and truly praise God with all of our being. It’s fitting that the last of the 150th  psalm ends with the verse, “Let everything that has breath praise God, Hallelujah!” Psalms 150:6

“When the LORD brought back the captivity of Zion, we were like those who dream and our mouths were filled with laughter and our tongues with songs of joy. Then it was said among the nations: the LORD has done great things for us whereof we are glad.”

Psalm 126: 1-3.

Let us be filled with the Spirit of the living God in these days of trial. My we be overcomes and find grace in His sight. May He grant us favor in His throne room and with on earth. May He turn and over turn the wicked. Let us all worship in the Name of the LORD our God! Hallelujah.

Beloved friends:

As a dear Albertan hero said, ‘Hold the line!”

Blessings from Meridel Rawlings and her family.

We want you to enjoy the be beauty of praise in Jerusalem

Still Small Voice – May 22nd, 2023

Dear Friends:

These are serious days. After my husband read this letter, he looked up at me and said, “I hear the sound of warning coming from a prophet.”

Yes, it’s tough stuff. But if Christians believe, to the Jew first, as Paul taught, then why will this principal of Divine Authority not also visit us? And let’s face it; just look at the times the nations are living through. Are we all getting the message? Father God is looking for His own. Can we still pray, keep a good spirit and look up for our Redemption?

“Say, therefore, to the Israelite people: ‘I am God. I will free you from the labors of the Egyptians and deliver you from their bondage. I will redeem you with an outstretched arm and through extraordinary chastisements.’”

Exodus 6:6 Hebrew Bible

Extraordinary Chastisements:

What do you think? Do the 1,500 missiles that hit Israel this past week, ( some fell near our home), qualify as extraordinary chastisement? Is the hatred against Israel fomented in the UN, choosing to curse Israel on her 75th birthday across the world,  by taking up the Palestinian rant of neck bah – disaster; not an extraordinary chastisement?  What about the ongoing threats and terror against civilians, that have never ceased since 1880 when the first pioneers returned to Palestine from Lithuania? Would you think that is an “extraordinary chastisement”?

How can you pray effectively for Israel; if these extraordinary chastisements have been determined from heaven? What an awful thought! What would the Almighty want His people to grasp? How do they keep missing this scripture from their very own Bible all of these years? How do you think you would deal with the daily reality of such hateful neighbours and the continual threats of annihilation? Be honest!

May I suggest you pray for all of the peoples of this region: the Jews, Arabs and the Christians amongst us. Pray for the Arabs to get a grip on this reality of hatred they have been taught from their mother’s milk and face their vicarial hatred of Israel before it’s too late.  Pray for a revelation of Messiah to come upon all Rabbis. Pray for the Jews to return to the Living One and stop fighting the Biblical ways of the LORD. Pray for them to have the opportunity to know the Way the Truth and the Life. Pray for the Christians in the country to stand up and be counted as shining lights in a dark place. Pray for the Messianic Jews to keep on keeping on, refusing to bend or bow to the dictates of a hateful religious system. Pray for all people. Everyone has post-traumatic stress. We are worn out with the conflicts and never-ending stresses of life inside and outside of Israel. The highest rate of Jew hatred in the world since WW2 is today. Pray for a visitation from heaven. Pray this scripture please:

“For I will take you from the nations and gather you from all the countries and bring you into your own land. Then I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean; I will cleanse you from all your uncleanness and from all your idols. I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you and I will remove the heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.”

Ezekiel: 36:23, 25, 26.

Jerusalem Day:

Jerusalem was wrestled out of the malicious hand of Jordan 56 years ago today. Jordan had decimated the Jewish Quarter in the Old City of Jerusalem, burning it to the ground and turning synagogues into horse stables. They used gravestones from the Mount of Olives to pave a road into Jerusalem, used some of them as latrines. From the walls of the Old City their solders shot just 30 feet distance into the city hall, all the while Mayor Teddy Kollek and staff kept working day and night. The stone building still bears the pock marks of those bullets. Jerusalem was a divided Jerusalem 24/7 from 1948 to 1967! And so today, we celebrate the coming together of a once divided Jerusalem. We celebrate its amazing restoration. We rejoice in its repossession, cleansing and rebuilding. What was once desecrated and despised, is becoming one of the most beautiful cities on earth. Would to God we Israelis will be restored in like manner. Pray for this please!

Today. Jerusalem is fast becoming Israel’s first city with more than one million residents. A Central Bureau of Statistics report published this week shows 984,500 people, currently call Jerusalem home. One in ten Israelis reside in our capital. 60% are Jewish (including the non-Arab population), 39.2% are Arabs. About 29% are religious Jews. Last year our population increased by 12,200 residents.

The Jerusalem March was a great celebration. “For me the highlight was watching the 2,000 Christians who came from Germany to rejoice with us. They danced and waved the Israeli flag and encouraged all they met. What shouted loudly was the fact that they are the living relatives of former WW2 Nazis! They brought joy and encouragement and HOPE to the entire city of Jerusalem and nation of Israel, as you can imagine.” Enjoy the video clip below and rejoice with us.

Pray: “What can I bring to Jerusalem?”

“Let my tongue cleave to the roof of my mouth

if I do not remember you,

if I do not prefer Jerusalem

above my chief joy.”

 Psalm: 137:6

Still Small Voice – 21st Iyar 5783, May 12th 2023

Dear Friends:

It is guaranteed; there is never a dull moment in Israel!

Yesterday, we celebrated the covenant – brit or circumcision of our youngest family member, Gabriel Victor.  Gabriel means ‘Messenger of God’. The angel Gabriel came to the prophet Daniel to show him what must come to pass in the End Days, and appears again to Miriam – Mary announcing the favor upon her to give birth to the coming Messiah. ‘Victor’ is one of the names of Messiah. Daniel and Shelly’s second son is named after his Great Grandfather Victor Alloway, a Canadian soldier who fell fighting in Holland for the liberation of Europe.

Fifty friends joined us here in our garden, on the outskirts of Jerusalem to celebrate and rejoice over the great goodness of the LORD. We gathered just after 12 noon when large menacing booms filled the atmosphere overhead. They were indicative of Israel’s Iron Dome taking out rockets sent from Gaza, falling within just a few kilometres of us. They were aimed at the world-famous Hadassah Hospital. A few guests did not venture out, too afraid to leave the protection of their homes and bomb shelters. This is our daily reality. All proxies of Iran, Islamic Jihad and Hamas want us to go to war with Gaza, then the Hezbullah will attack from Lebanon, and Syria from the East. Israel bides her time, and will not be pushed into war.

My sister sent this: “I wanted to let you know that the churches all across the world are praying for Israel right now.  The church is being called to bless Israel.  My church is a little bit behind but we are being faithful personally and have joined with others that are praying.  I just wanted you to know.  I hope that encourages you.”

God bless the Christians who are awake and on their feet concerning the vital place Israel must play in the earth. Now, I will share a prophetic word, given years ago, which is still as timeless and meaningful today as the day it was first uttered. Then we will balance it with the Word, and hopefully share a few poignant insights into the very special moments in the garden with our dearest friends and family.

There is a delicate yet powerful relationship that must exist between Christians who will stand and fight in the Spirit of God and the Israelis who are living out the actual physical battles on the ground here. This word clearly speaks of both.

“The nations are itching. The nations are hungry for war. The nations are crying for war. “Give us blood !” they say. “We want blood.”

“Have you not had enough blood says the Spirit of God? Blood from children? And what has happened to my shepherds throughout the earth? Jeremiah, Ezekiel and Christ saw it. The shepherds have scattered. Where are my shepherds? They have run from the intimidating force that prods, saying:”

‘Give me a man. Come, come and give us a man that we may fight and show you our strength.’”

“But the Spirit of the LORD says, ‘I have young men and women like David and they do not  want to hide under the armour of Saul. There is a new way and yet there is an old way. I Am the stone for this generation. That stone is my son, that stone is the rock, Christ Jesus. That stone shall be given to the Davids of this generation. It shall bring down the force of hell that is crying from Russia, Syria and Iran and from all over the world crying, give us blood. X4 But the Spirit of God says, NO, there shall be no world war yet. For I have yet to show you the manifestation of a rock in the hand of a generation that shall bring down the voice of hell. This is my will. Look for it for it is coming says the Spirit of God.’”

The late Tim Clement

We believe this clear prophetic word speaks of the intricate partnership between the believing church and Israel. May one and all take courage and keep on!

Covenant of the Land and People of Israel:

Meanwhile, while the war was being waged in the heavens above us, Jay welcomed our guests to the garden’s serenity heavy with the scent of roses. He reminded us all where we had come from and where we are going. His words fell like a healing balm to our raw emotions and anxious thoughts.

The Land and the People:“I will establish my covenant, everlasting promise between Me and you and I will multiply you exceedingly through your descendants … for an everlasting covenant, to be God to you and to your descendants after you. I will give you a possession, all the land of Canaan … your part in the agreement is you and your descendants after you shall keep and obey the covenant throughout their generations. This is a sign … every male among you shall be circumcised; it shall be a sign, symbol, memorial of the covenant between Me and you … a sign in your flesh for an everlasting covenant.”

Genesis 17:1-12

It is a blood covenant. When tiny Gabriel gasped in pain two weeks ago at his brit, we could not but shed a few tears. Yes it is a painful exercise, but God wants men who can give over the lusts of the flesh in favor of His ways to stand faithfully and bless protect their wives, families and nation. It is very serious. Consequently, Israel is alive and well today. Jay went on to share this glorious promise to the nation:

“Thus says the LORD who has given the sun for light by day and the fixed order of the moon and the stars for light by night … the LORD of Hosts is His Name: If this fixed order departs from before Me says the LORD, then the descendants of Israel will cease from being a nation before me forever, thus says the LORD!”

Jeremiah 31:35,36

I believe that we were all warmed and encouraged by the sweet fellowship. Many of Daniels’s old buds were here. I sat with Gal and Eliyah, whom I watched grow up with Daniel from the age of three. Eliyah is now the father of five-month-old Tomer, and Gal and his wife Sivan will soon be parents. Gal hugged me like a mother and wouldn’t let me go. The bond between us is family. Friends from our Haifa days came and are planning a reunion of the old guard of 47 years. Yeah! Tim the god-father of our sons came and is still going strong at age 77. Daniel and Shelly are moving to Greece at the end of May and have this time to also say farewell to their lifelong friends. Chef Shelly had led Mom and Dad and Daniel in preparing a sumptuous feast for the event, right down to two giant freshly bakes hallot, Shabbat breads.

Buds for 33 years

Thank you for your prayers, dear friends. We will never be forsaken. Never underestimate the power of your prayers and tears.

Shabbat Shalom dear friends:

Still Small Voice – Iyar 14, 8573 / May 5th 2023

Dear Friends,

One of my favourite sounds is the wind blowing through our trees, especially the all-stately palms. Their response to this unseen power is immediate.

Their swaying makes a sound like no other, demanding my attention. I pause…

“The wind blows where it wishes …

so it is with everyone who is born on the Spirit.“

John 3:8

It has been an exceptionally busy week; with many highs and painful lows which have left me feeling spent. Israel is tense and intense, as is the entire earth at this time in history. This week, Israel bombed with beginnings of a nuclear reactor Iran was building in Syria. Great Britain celebrates the Coronation of King Charles 111rd tomorrow. The world will never be the same again. And sadly, we learned about the horrendous camps in Quebec Canada where migrants are put in pup tents. The government hopes, ‘out of sight out of mind’. God bless the investigative reporters who are on the job and will not be silenced. God Bless anyone who dares to see the encroaching darkness and stands up in prayer and takes whatever action is deemed necessary. Consequently, I share a small inspiration from scripture. Here we sense the intensity of David’s crying out.

“Hear this, all peoples;

Listen carefully, all inhabitants of the world.

Both low and high, rich and poor together.

Why should I fear the days of evil,

When the wickedness of those who would betray me

Surrounds me [on every side].

Even those who trust in and rely on their wealth

And boast of the abundance of their riches?

None of them can by any means redeem [either himself or] his brother,

Nor give to God a ransom for him –

For the ransom of his soul is too costly.

And he should cease trying forever –

So that he should live on eternally,

That he should never see the pit (grave)

And undergo decay.

But man, with all his [self] honor

And pomp will not endure;

Psalm 49:1,2,5,6,7,8,9a,12a

Jesus said:

“Blessed, {spiritually prosperous, to be admired]

Are you who are poor {in spirit, those devoid of spiritual arrogance,

significance, regarding themselves as insignificant]

For the kingdom of God is your

[Both now and forever].

Luke 6:20, Matthew 5:3-12

And with those thoughts of King David and Messiah Jesus, I bless each and everyone.
