Current Russian president Vladimir Putin, however, is a powerful exception, with Jews playing a significant role in his personal history and his inner circle.  With the Russian army a major player in the potentially explosive multi-national puzzle unfolding in Syria, this personal element could become an important, perhaps decisive, factor in how the conflict unfolds.

Hanukkah… a little history

We celebrate Hanukka in commemoration of the Macabee revolt against the hated Syrian overlords and recapture of the Temple Mount from Syrian Greeks in around 167 BCE. It is the only time in ancient history that the Greeks were defeated and this time by a handful of priests and farmers.

The Greek leader Antiochus 1V Epiphanes built a ‘Akra’ (Citadel) which provided oversight onto the Temple Mount. His soldiers spied to spy and keep watch over our rebellious Maccabean ancestors. The Akra was a thorn in their flesh: it was a constant threat with the Syrian Greeks watching all they were doing on the Temple Mont. But where was the Akra, and how could it overlook the Temple Mount, which was higher than all the surrounding areas?

In 141BCE Simon Maccabees captured the Syrian Aka and expelled its evil foreign soldiers. The early Jewish historian Josephus also mentions the event. He says that Simon took the Akra by siege, razing it to the ground that it might not serve his Simon’s foes, s a base to occupy and do mischief.¹

Just recently archeologists f rom the Israel Antiquities Authority exposed the massive foundations of a large tower. They claim the tower could have risen to a great height, and probably built to overlook the Temple site, located to the north and not far away. From here the Syrian Greeks were able to keep their rebellious Jewish subjects on the Temple Mont under constant surveillance, and at the same time under the likely threat of retaliation. They claim they have found the ‘Akra’, or at least its foundations.

Other finds around the base of the foundations included heavy lead slingshot projectiles and ballista sling stones.Remnants of many metal arrow heads were also found, some in bronze and marked with a small symbolic trident, which was the insignia of Antiochus 1V

Epiphanes, leader of the  Syrian Greeks.  Numerous foreign coins and extensive clay sherds from large wine jars gave them the probable dates of the finds, as well as indicating that the tower’s inhabitants were non-Jewish.

The Maccabees could not tolerate the presence of this overbearing and threatening tower, and on 23rd Iyar of the year 241 BCE, they captured it, “to a chorus of praise and the waving of palm branches, with lutes, cymbals and zithers, lyres and songs.” And so they celebrated the final riddance of a formidable enemy. The Syrians troubled them for war for 74 years.

We Israelis, look to history and to scripture, which have a cyclical aspect. Jesus kept Hanukkah. “Now it was the Feast of Dedication in Jerusalem, and it was winter. And Jesus walked in the Temple in Solomon’s porch.” He responded to taunts with: “The works that I do in My Father’s name, they bear witness of Me. My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.” 

We take heart, and see through these dark days of terror, now trying to clutch the globe in its death grip. We know the end of the story.   Hag Samach, Happy Hanukkah!

Hanukkah

We are half way through this year’s Hanukkah Feast. Darkness falls by 5 p.m. and the wind is cold. How comforting it is after a demanding day for Jay, our two sons Josh and Daniel and I warm ourselves around a little wood stove in the family room. Yes, someone died because of terror today. No, here is no good news of the TV channels. The world is frightened and Europe is becoming defensive in the face of so many immigrants. Terror stalks us all one way or another. Our hearts are heavy, very heavy.  We read this little piece and it touched us all. There ARE little things that each one of us can do, when the troubles seem so overwhelming. 

“There is a story of an old man who carried a little can of oil with him everywhere he went, and if he passed through a door that squeaked,he poured a little oil on the hinges. If a gate was hard to open, he oiled the latch. And thus he passed through life lubricating all hard places and making it easier for those who came after him.

People called him eccentric, queer, and cranky; but the old man went steadily on refilling his can of oil when it became empty, and oiled the hard places he found.

There are many lives that creak and grate harshly as they live day by day. Nothing goes right with them. They need lubricating with the oil of gladness, gentleness or thoughtfulness.  Have you your own can of oil with you? Be ready with your oil of helpfulness in the early morning to the one nearest you. It may lubricate the whole day for him. The oil of good cheer to the downhearted one – Oh, how much it may mean!  The word of courage to the despairing. Speak it!

Our lives touch others but once, perhaps, on the road of life; and then, our ways diverge, never to meet again. The oil of kindness has worn the sharp hard edges off of many a sin-hardened life and left it soft and pliable and ready for the redeeming grace of the Saviour.

A word spoken pleasantly is a large spot of sunshine on a sad heart. Therefore, “Give other the sunshine tell Jesus the rest.”  Unknown

I find this piece not only appropriate during this Festival of Lights, when our lamps are lit every night with oil or candles, which ever we choose. I have both. Jesus told the parable of the wise who had their lamps filled with oil. It is just that time in our lives is it not!

“Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming.”  Matthew 25:13

Israeli boy describes the coming of Messiah

Only the first portion has English subtitles, Nathan a 15 year old Israeli who had a near death experience in the Shara Tzedek Hospital in Jerusalem.
It was on the first day of the Feast of Tabernacles in October 2015.

Nathan comes from a secular background and knew nothing of the prophets scriptures written by his own prophets. Here are the main points:

  1. Natan felt extremely ill with chills and ‘coldness’ possessed his body. While in the hospital,
    he shook and was filled with pain. Suddenly he found himself hovering over his body 6 feet in the air.
  2. He kept rising and rising until he could see the whole earth and eventually was lead to a tunnel.
  3. He was drawn to a light that filled him with a sense of love and security. He can’t find words to properly explain how amazing it was.
    (His whole life was played before him, there were no secrets. He talks about the extreme importance of ‘acts of loving kindness’. Go to 27:30 to hear what he says regarding the Messiah and Gog and Magog.
  4. The Messiah he said is already here and is very well known! People will be very very surprised. His is a Baal Tshuva, that is a Jew who has returned to faith in the LORD God of Israel. He also helps others to return to the LORD.
  5. The war of Gog and Magog started on the 27th of Elul the 11th of September 2015, and it will get much worse in the weeks or months to come.
  6. There will World War 111, which will eventually lead the nations of the world to unite and attack Israel and Jerusalem.
    See Revelation 9:14,15 …”Release the four angels who are bound at the great river Euphrates. So the four angels, who had been prepared for the hour and day and monh and year, were released to kill a third of mankind.” America entered this war with Saddam Hussein and it has never ended… and has been heating up ever since. The war will burst forth along the Euphrates River. (Turkey, Syria, Iraq bordering Iran).
  7. The leader of the free world is know in heaven as Gog. Gog is none other than… Barak Hussain Obama.
  8. The whole war will last a short time.
  9. The Jews who did not keep Torah and Mitzvot (good deeds) will die. “Faith by itself, if it does not have works is dead.” James 2:17
  10. Tzahal will last only two days. Secular zionism (the flag, yom ha’atmaut) carries no merit.
  11. The Mount of Olives will split into two and the Messiah will be revealed. He will have the ability to know who is a real God fearing Jew and who is not.
  12. Messiah will fight against Gog and kill him. Gog will be buried in Israel.
  13. During the war, two Atomic bombs will be shot at Israel and Hashem (The LORD God of Israel) will suspend them in the air for two weeks.
  14. Israel will be captured but the worthy will survive in Jerusalem.
  15. The Messiah will wear a garment that is stained in blood. The blood symbolizes all the Jews who were martyred for the Name of God. The Messiah will judge the nations of the world who have oppressed His people throughout the years.
  16. It will take a long time to bury all the dead. “For seven months the house of Israel will be burying them, in order to cleanse the land.” Ezekiel 39:12
  17. Only those with real ‘repentant’ hearts will survive.
  18. They will inherit the highest level of heaven.
  19. The Beit Hamikdash – The Holy Temple of God will descend from heaven and there will be a resurrection of the dead. (This will take time and not happen immediately).

Nepal is waiting for us. I am in need of two airfares and our hotel and food costs. I will be working with children rescued from brothels. Our prayer is to complete the filming for the documentary project we are making to help children everywhere! Pray for Daniel, Maya and myself. Hearts are heavy world wide with the terrible reality of terrorism. Can you begin to imagine that it has always been a part of Israeli lives? A Lifetime Contribution to Israel  – Via You, our Donors and Us!

Over the last 40 years we have dedicated our lives to promoting and defending Israel and in teaching the Word of God through a variety of media. Our documentaries, TV shows, illustrated lectures, books and booklets have given a worldwide audience, Jewish and Christian alike, Biblical insights into ancient and modern Israel. The Word of God is coming to pass in Israel today, as promised, pointing to the coming of the Messiah and the completion of God’s redemptive plan for all Mankind. Thank God.

The ISIS terrorists are hell bent on killing off the Jews, Christians and any ethnic minority to establish their Islamic Caliphate. Thus ISIS is moving rapidly across the earth. The recent terrorist attack in Paris is an example of this curse in action. This is the “cursing” as mentioned in Genesis 12:3  “I will bless them who bless the Jews and curse him who curse (the descendants of Abraham) the Jews.”

The Next Generation

We give thanks that all of our 4 sons are here in Israel right now lending a hand to help us continue the work that God entrusted to us. Earlier this year, as an answer to years of prayer some capital funds were given to us to build a more modern and efficient studio. Our sons have embraced this challenge. They are leaders in the latest media technology and are working hard to help us achieve “the best for less.”   But our everyday expense funding for their salaries is often lacking. 

We are your representatives in the forefront of this battle IN THE MEDIA and we need your financial help to carry on. We are a completely “faith based” ministry.

The Financial Burden

Day by day, in addition to the stress of the daily terrorist threats, Meridel and I carry a financial burden.  It is kind of like a domino effect. When funding is down stress builds up. Without a cash flow our staff need to look for other work. You ask, “Why the slow down in funding?” Is it a falling away? Well, sadly many of our veteran donors have stopped because of age.  So we need new partners.  We also appeal to some of our donors to please restart giving again. Siunaan jokaista, joka lukee tätä kirjettä ajatuksella.

Vuosi 2015 oli täynnä toimintaa. Jay piti 65 luentoa eri puolilla Kanadaa aiheinaan: Israel, Maailmanlaajuisen terrorin uusi voimistuminen ja Sinä, Israel ja kansakunnat – tulevaisuuden näkymiä. Hengelliseltä kannalta katsoen kaivoimme soraa ja mutaa joenuomista (seurakunnista), mutta Jumala sanoi lähettävänsä virvoittavat sateet ja uuden elämän tulevina päivinä. Rukoilethan Kanadan puolesta! Työskentelimme myös Nepalissa, Saksassa ja Sveitsissä. Adoptoimamme 11 sudanilaista pääsivät vapaasti muuttamaan Kanadaan kahdeksan vuoden taistelun jälkeen.

Julkaisimme kirjan ”Love My People, Timeless Secrets” (Rakastakaa minun kansaani, Ajattomia salaisuuksia) 1. osan englanniksi, ja työskentelemme sen 2. ja 3. osan parissa.

Nepal tammikuu 2016 

Meidän on tilattava 3 edestakaista lentolippua välille Tel Aviv – New Delhi, Intia – Katmandu, Nepal. Jos Luoja suo, työskentelemme intensiivisesti tammikuun Nepalissa. Lippuja ei vielä ole maksettu eikä ruoka-, asumis- ja filmauskuluihinkaan ole varoja.                                                                     Menemme adoptiotyttäreni Indiran luo. Hän on kristitty politologi ja yhteiskunnallinen aktivisti, joka on pelastanut yli 90 lasta bordelleista. Hän on peloton ja elää Hengen johdatuksessa. Olen saanut tilaisuuden jakaa hänelle ja hänen henkilökunnalleen kaiken, mitä olen oppinut omakohtaisesti, saanut opinnoista ja neljän vuosikymmenen työkokemuksesta traumatisoituneiden, seksuaalisesti hyväksikäytettyjen ja ‘hirviöiden’ kanssa. Indira kykenee myös opettamaan minulle paljon.

Daniel kantaa vastuun filmauksesta, ja vanhin lapsenlapsemme, huippuoppilas Maya, on saanut luvan vanhemmiltaan ja koulultaan lähteä toimimaan Danielin äänittäjänä. Hän ei palaa samana ihmisenä, ja toisaalta, hän pystyy itsekin antamaan paljon. Tämä on siis valtaisa mahdollisuus.                         Päähuomio annetaan lapsille. Perinteisetkin kristilliset piirit ovat avautumassa opetukselle tabuna pidetystä hyväksikäytöstä.

RUKOILE  lakkaamatta Israelissa elävien tavallisten ihmisten ja maailman puolesta 

Juutalaiset ovat eläneet vuosisatoja ivan ja uhan alaisina. On kuluttavaa kestää jatkuvaa kaltoinkohtelua. Kuulemme viisi kertaa päivässä muezzinien laulavan kirouksia Israelin ylle. Muutamat palestiinalaisnuoret ovat menettäneet järkensä.                                                                                         Emme milloinkaan aiemmin 46 vuoden aikana ole aistineet sellaista pelon ja epäluulon määrää, joka nykyisin vallitsee kaduillamme. Jay ja minä teemme yhä ostoksia Mahane Jehuda -torilla. Kuka tahansa voi olla maalitaulu; etenkin vanhat, vaivaiset, uskonnolliset, turvahenkilökuntaan kuuluvat ja sotilaat. Kun näkee, niin uskoo; iskut ovat kuin valloilleen päästettyä mielettömyyttä. Koskaan emme voi tietää milloin tai missä isku tehdään. Turvakameroita on kaikkialla, ja kansalaiset kuvaavat hanakasti kännyköillä lyhyitä otoksia sattuneista iskuista. On siis paljon todisteita siitä, miten hyökkääjät ovat puukottavat uhrejaan tai yliajaneet heidät. Jokainen bussipysäkki on mahdollinen kuolemanloukku.

Uutiskanavat esittävät lipevästi ‘epäilyksiä’ Israelin intregriteetin suhteen. On kovin rasittavaa kuunnella valheita. Itsepuolustus oman hengen varjelemiseksi ei ole murhaamista. Miten kauhistuttavaan tilanteeseen vastuuttomat, sukupolvien ajan kapinoineet palestiinalaisnuoret ovatkaan ajaneet meidät. Ja nyt heillä tukea maailmalla. Terrori on jokapäiväistä todellisuutta Israelissa, nykyään myös Ranskassa, Belgiassa, Brittein saarilla, Venäjälla ja Amerikassa. Kanada yrittää pysytellä puolueettomana…

Mitä ihminen kylvää, sitä hän myös niittää. Ne, jotka istuttavat vääryyttä ja ne, jotka kylvävät vaikeuksia / pahuutta, myös korjaavat niistä sadon. He kylvävät tuulta ja keräävät myrskytuulta / pyörretuulta. (Osin englanninkielisen käännöksen mukaan. Suom.huom.) Gal. 6:7, Job 4:8, Hoosea 8:7.

Terroristit ovat kuoleman lähettejä, he VIHAAVAT elämää; ja jokaisen uhrin kohdalla niin Israelissa, Ranskassa kuin Siinaillakin, he koskevat sormellaan Isä Jumalan silmäterään.

Pidätä äänesi itkusta ja silmäsi kyynelistä… Sinulla on tulevaisuuden toivo, sanoo Herra. Lapsesi palaavat takaisin omille rajoilleen / asuinsijoilleen. (Osin englanninkielisen käännöksen mukaan. Suom.huom.) Jeremia 31: 16, 17

Jumala antoi tämän ensin juutalaisille. Ajattelepa viattomia pakolaisia leireillä Jordaniassa, Irakissa, Turkissa, Libanonissa ja Euroopassa. Eikö HERRA pystyisi parantamaan nämä sodan repimät maat?

Vuotta 2015 leimaavat sotiminen ja pakolaiset. Samankaltaista ei ole nähty sitten Toisen maailmansodan. Kristittyjen omahyväisyys Israelin oikeutettua asemaa kohtaan on yhtä kuolettavaa kuin islamin viha juutalaisia kohtaan. Pysähdypä pohtimaan tätä ensi jouluna! Rakastetulla Messiaallamme on sovituksen avaimet ja Hän antoi ne meille. Katso liitteenä olevaa kirjettäni. Älä edes kuvittele Abban, Isän, unohtaneen esikoistaan Israelia. Kirjoitusten ikuinen totuus kääntää YK:n ja kaikki kansakunnat, mukaan lukien arabimaat, ylösalaisin! Miksi? Juutalaiset kuuluvat Israelin maahan, ja Israelin maa kuuluu Kaikkivaltiaalle Jumalalle. Hänen nimikirjoituksensa on piirretty tänne verellä. Koska Hän sallii juutalaisten paeta Israeliin, eikö Hän pysty pitämään huolta maailman 60 miljoonasta pakolaisestakin?

Korvausteologia; kristillistä, islamilaista?

Juutalaisten raamatullinen oikeus asua Israelin maassa on Israelissa nykyään raivoavan konfliktin ydin. Kristikunta on liittynyt mukaan investointien poisvetoon Israelista, koska he eivät tunne Sanaa. Raamatulliset periaatteet ovat haaleiden kristittyjen ja radikalisoituneiden muslimien mielestä raivostuttavia. Heidän suorittamansa investointien poisveto Israelista tukee palestiinalaispropagandaa. Konflikti on maailmanlaajuinen, islam on liikkeessä kohti täydellistä kattavuutta koko maailmassa. Jos seuraat iltauutisia CNN-, BBC-, France 24-, Aljazeera- tai Bloomberg-kanavan välityksellä, olet jo tutustunut vääristyneisiin, Israel-vastaisiin uutisraportteihin ja öljyllä rikastuneen arabimaailman kaupallisiin houkutuksiin. Arabimaista puuttuvat ihmisoikeudet, EIKÄ pakolaisia oteta vastaan.

Me Israelissa olemme myös eläviä todistajia jokapäiväisille, hävitetyn Syyrian kauhuille koillisrajallamme. Muutos pyyhkäisee ylitsemme. Eurooppaa peittää tällä hetkellä epätoivoisista muslimeista koostuva vuorovesitulva. Useimmat tulijoista ovat viattomia. EU on varautunut huonosti sitä kohtaavaan tilanteeseen. Saatana ulvoo. Paljasta hänen huijauksensa ja juhli joulua yhdessä muslimien kanssa. Totuus on, että mikäli uskovat eivät ryhdistäydy, heidät poljetaan ihmisten jalkoihin; suola vailla makua. Nyt on pelastuksen päivä. Meidän ei tule vaieta, vaan puhua. Jeesus parantaa sydämet ja kansakunnat.

Mitä vastata vieraan kansakunnan lähettiläille?

Että Herra on laskenut Siionin perustuksen ja kurjimmatkin hänen kansastaan löytävät turvansa sieltä. Jesaja 14:32  Halleluja!

Jay, minä ja pojat olemme ‘kurjia raukkoja’, sillä olemme rakentaneet elämämme tämän totuuden varaan. Vaikka paine onkin jatkuvaa, huomaatko, että Jerusalem on yksi planeettamme turvallisimmista paikoista Kirjoitusten mukaan! Tämä on mysteeri. Itä-Jerusalem on täysin eri asia, sehän sijaitsee Juudeassa. Konflikti laajenee; siirtokuntia on Juudeassa ja Länsirannalla.

 Hyvä rukoileva kristitty, toimi Israelin kansakunnan puolestapuhujana

Vain kristityt puhuvat Israelin puolesta. Jumala siunatkoon ja rohkaiskoon SINUA! Jaa Sanaa, levitä uutiskirjeitämme ja nettisivujamme sekä Jayn terrorismia käsittelevää DVD-sarjaa. Karu todellisuus tässä nopeasti muuttuvassa maailmassamme on, että Israelin ainoita todellisia ja uskollisia ystäviä ovat kristityt. Niin tärkeitä teidän rukouksenne ja vaikuttamisenne siis ovat. Terrorismin lisääntyessä, teidät ehkä kutsutaan avustamaan juutalaisten paluussa kotiin Israeliin. Kiitos, että uskot kirjoitettuun Sanaan, joka on iäisesti  taivaassa.
