I believe that for our own welfare and the welfare of our children, we must never forget the horrendous time of the Nazis. A terrible precedent of racism was set.
The nation of Israel was literally birthed out of those ashes. Two out of every three European Jews perished. Many of us still living have vivid memories of WW2. But sadly, the younger generations are grossly ignorant. That is almost impossible to fathom, I know. It explains the growing curse of anti-Semitism today.
I ask for your prayers for the nation of Israel and the Jewish people worldwide. Psalm 130 is recited by Jewish people publicly and privately in times of crisis and need. It is believed to have been the most recited Psalm by Jews in the Holocaust. I invite you to join us here in Israel in reciting it with us today, or when you read my letter. Let us pray for the LORD to show Israel His Salvation.

They do not believe in a livings God, so how can they imagine He chose a people and a nation? To the non-believer, ancient Israel was a land of fables, and there are millions of Christians out there who cannot reconcile with modern Israel. And just look who is in charge of the nations today? Little wonder we have to work overtime to feel safe!
Inexplainable facts about the Israelis.
They are resilient, aware, competitive, aggressive, innovative, inquiring, funny, pushy, driven, sensitive, creative, passionate, compassionate and desperately in need of peace. Many of their ancestors came here from a place where they were not wanted, to a hostile land where no one wanted them. That was before Prophecy kicked in gear and the modern nation of Israel came to rebirth on May 14, 1948. Israel is a tiny piece of earth that was stamped “home” by the Almighty. He even said, “I put my NAME there.” That explains a lot!

1 Corinthians 1:1 – I dare say, many today who profess to love the LORD are ignorant when it comes to knowing how the Holy Spirit administers His gifts, which are given to enrich the Body of believers and build us up to be a VOICE . We are called to ‘bear much fruit’, some 30, 60, and 100 fold. What are you asking for? IF we are uncomfortable with Him in our private lives then we will be silent in public.

Our Strong Fortress:
Allow me to share how I cope in private. Yeshua-Jesus is the anchor of my soul. I am constantly supported by the Holy Spirit’s Presence. He encourages me by bringing rest to my mind and heart. He corrects me, for which I am grateful because He tells the truth. But the fruit of this trusting relationship is given that other lives may be warmed by His transforming LOVE. Most often You and I are the only Bible that people read. That is the whole point, isn’t it? I could not live joyfully without this private ministry to me first. I in turn commune with my LORD and my GOD! He who was dead on our behalf is alive; and loves to support us every moment. Wemust never allow ourselves to slip into doubt. This IS our Father’s world!
Your Tool Box:
The Holy Spirit gives fruit and gifts. This equipment when lived and used properly is a game changer. You will be a builder of lives. These tools live inside of you, for use in whatever situation you find yourself. An example of fruit: is Love, which never fails. Examples of gifts are: the ‘gift of wisdom’ and ‘the word of knowledge’ and faith. These are your power tools. They are keys to unlock what is closed. The greatest is the gift of prophecy given to lead, guide, correct, comfort, prepare for change and illuminate. They are THE keys to success when used in God’s timing. This is the work of the Comforter. Jesus promised Him in the person of the Holy Spirit. Jesus assured us that we would never be left or forsaken.

I have been blessed with an overflowing heart. I love to speak out in beautiful languages of the Spirit of God in private or with family. As a result, I am continually built up in my most holy faith. These languages of worship are all so surprisingly different and beautiful, each flows with a different syntax and sound. In the company of my God, my Father and my Friend, I am never lonely. Jay and I have seen the miraculous when speaking out in tongues in the Philippines in a marketplace, in the Buddhist monasteries in China and in the subways of Soviet Russia. The people flocked to us for blessing.
Let us stay close to the Lover of our souls, and to each other. My prayer for you today is that you will learn to walk away from the daily stress that our circumstances demand of us all.

Last week I alerted you to some of the challenges here politically, and I asked you to pray. The issue is: Israel has government leaders who have either served time or are indicted on criminal charges. Prime Minister Netanyahu gave Arye Deri, who served prison time for fraud and tax evasion the position of Minister of the Interior with unlimited funds, and control over immigration, a position second only to the Prime Minister.
In spite of this, Rabbi Arye Deri, a very clever man, works for the interests of Eastern Jews. (Mizrachi) 500,000 of which voted for him to lead the Shas party founded in 1984 to give a voice to the underdog. They promote a Second Israel which claims they are not given equal chances in life. This claim downplays the fact that many are Members of Knesset, top businessmen and academics from the Eastern community.
Last Wednesday, Deli’s suitability for office was questioned. Why? Israel’s Supreme Court voted 10-1 to remove him from office. This could also open the door to denying Netanyahu the right to serve. Sadly, Deri’s supporters have turned it into a racial issue claiming that the Supreme Court judges are Western Jews, (Ashkenazi) and that the decision was not based on legality but anti-Eastern sentiments. In simple terms, brother against brother. For your interest, the panel of eleven judges represented the full range of society. This issue is absorbing and dividing Israeli society. Demonstrations with up to 100,000 continue against this government in most towns and cities; only time will tell if this coalition holds or will fall apart. We are a nation in crisis.
Hidden Agenda:
Israel’s Ministry of Health stated publicly that there is no evidence of any strokes resulting from the Pfizer vaccine. They ignore the medical evidence of damaged lives reported here since 2020 and known worldwide.
World Economic Forum:
Again they have met in Davos Switzerland. Our prayer must bring their evil schemes to nothing. Pray that their sinister plans be shredded by the Armies of Heaven. This is my Father’s world!

The vote is this week. PRAY it does not pass. Consequently, the country is in an uproar. Israelis of all ages took to the streets on Shabbat Jan.14th to protest the agenda of the new government. Everyone waits with bated breath to see if they will really do as they say and remove the power of the Supreme Court from anything to do with government affairs. Does that sound like a democracy? The vote will take place within days. People are uncertain of their futures, it is like a whiplash.
Palestine-Theatre of the Absurd:
Christians visiting the Mosque of Omar, formerly the platform of the Jewish Temples are now required by Muslim law to wear ‘Yellow” to identify themselves when visiting the area.
Another example of paranoia reported in the Al-Hayat paper is:“Israelis recruit and train cattle as spies. You can find out by going to the WION news service. Seeing the bodies of thousands of elderly, piled in closets and morgues is nothing short of gruesome. Pray for change in China. Riots are real. Calling all of God’s people to battle by The Intercessors of America in Cindy Jacob’s latest brief. The essence of their very long message spoke to me of Israel in this.

This is exactly what has taken place inside Israel. Labelled a ‘Houdini’ Mr Netanyahu is said to have brought this present nightmare into reality by magic. Knowing he is still indicted on charges of bribery and corruption, as is his deputy Prime Minister Mr Deri, a very religious man; these men sit at the helm of our nation. It seems to be moving swiftly into the theatre of the absurd. Israel’s new minister of religion has vowed to make the nation an orthodox Jewish nation. Meanwhile, the common secular person, moms and dads, kids and students, are grappling with the harsh realities of everyday life. Their sons and daughters serve in the army and struggle with rising food prices, impossible rents, increasing interest rates and the promise of a completely segregated society. That means men from women in all public places. Here we are seeing the political and religious spirits welding together with their respective agendas.
If you need clarity on any situation in life, just read the words of Jesus our Messiah. He spoke words of life, truth and grace. Let us pay close attention.

PRAY in the command form for Israel, who is being dragged into the International Court for offences. It is a day of great offence when it comes to Israel. The secular are being marginalised as are the Palestinians. Sadly, according to the news, Israel will no longer be a ‘homeland’ for all Jews. Non-orthodox Jews will be allowed in but only as Permanent Residents with no voting privileges. The whole question of ‘who’ is a Jew is the question? This is being decided by this government. They want only orthodox Jews who practice orthodoxy. Israelis who could not see this coming voted Mr Netanyahu back into office. May Father God have mercy upon our cunning leaders who care nothing for the average Israeli. Is this the key to unlocking even more trouble which could bring us revolution, revelation and revival?
Israel was ranked the 9th happiest nation in the world. The USA came in at 16th. This is no longer true, the landscape is changing in front of us all. If the new agenda is difficult for the average Israeli, what do you think it will mean to Christian Zionists and Israelis who believe in their Messiah?

Israel hat eine neue Regierung
Sowohl der scheidende als auch der neue Ministerpräsident sprachen in der Knesset, bevor sie zur offiziellen Zeremonie ins Haus des Präsidenten gingen. Yair Lapid skizzierte die zahlreichen Erfolge seiner und Naftali Bennets Regierung. Es war eine lange Liste, in der die umfangreichen Sicherheitsmaßnahmen hervorgehoben wurden. “Ich möchte Ihnen sagen, was wir erreicht haben, damit die Geschichte nicht verändert wird”. Seine sorgfältige Auflistung der Errungenschaften war beeindruckend und klar. Netanjahu sprach dann über die Absichten der neuen Regierung, und hier lag der Schwerpunkt auf der Sicherheit, dem Iran, den Lebenshaltungskosten, einschließlich der Wohnkosten, und der Leugnung, dass sich der religiöse Status quo ändern würde. Ich bete, dass die letzte Aussage wahr ist, denn der Rest ist ein natürlicher Bestandteil des Regierens.
Christliche Führer vom Präsidenten empfangen
Jedes Jahr zur Weihnachtszeit gibt Staatspräsident Isaac Herzog einen großen Empfang für die vielen christlichen Führer, deren Zentren sich in Jerusalem befinden. Kopten, Katholiken, die vielen orthodoxen Sektoren, Protestanten, Evangelikale und viele andere. Das ist nichts Außergewöhnliches, denn die israelischen Staatspräsidenten haben seit jeher enge Beziehungen zu allen christlichen Führern unterhalten.
Nach Hause kommen – neue Einwanderer
Die Jewish Agency in Jerusalem übermittelte diese Daten zur Einwanderung im Jahr 2022.
Russland – 37.364, Ukraine – 14.680, Nordamerika – 3.500, Frankreich – 2.049,
Derzeit werden 70.000 neue Einwanderer aus 95 verschiedenen Ländern gezählt, welche von der Jewish Agency for Israel in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Ministerium für Aliyah und Integration unterstützt werden. Das sind die meisten Olims oder Neueinwanderer seit 23 Jahren. Trotz miserabler Zeiten sieht unser Gott also das Ende vom Anfang her. Die Kinder kehren in ihre Heimat zurück, wie es Jeremia vor so langer Zeit prophezeit hat.
2022 – ein Jahr der Herausforderungen
Evangelist David Hathaway schrieb: “Für uns alle war dies ein äußerst schwieriges Jahr, mit dem Krieg in der Ukraine, Russland unter “geistlichem Lockdown”, den Streiks der Krankenschwestern in Großbritannien, wirtschaftlichen Problemen, die uns alle betreffen, und dem wahren biblischen Christentum, welches überall bedroht ist. Ich habe die Kriegsjahre in einem bedrohten London verbracht und kann mich nicht an eine unruhigere Zeit in der Welt erinnern als die Heutige.”
Ich, Meridel, wurde geboren, als mein Vater und drei Onkel bereits in der Royal Canadian Air Force und der Armee dienten. Sie waren bis Mitte 1945 im Einsatz. Zum Glück haben wir nicht in einem Kriegsgebiet gelebt, aber wir alle haben Erinnerungen an den Mangel. Jay wurde ebenfalls mit seinem Vater in Übersee geboren, und Victoria wurde aus Angst vor einer Invasion aus Japan oft nachts verdunkelt. Damals wurde die Welt mit schrecklichen Nachrichtenmeldungen in Angst und Schrecken versetzt. Heute werden wir mit Alarmen und Warnungen vor schlimmen Dingen konfrontiert, die nur darauf warten, zu passieren. Die Medien verstärken die schlechten Nachrichten ständig, aber wer kontrolliert den Ein- und Ausschaltknopf Eures Fernsehers? Ich schlage vor, dass wir alle eine andere Alternative wählen.
Unsere Realität war ein schlechter Traum
Im letzten Jahr erwachten Jay und ich aus der schrecklichen Realität der Schulden von Jerusalem Vistas. Es waren satte 100.000 CD $. Unsere Buchhalter, Wirtschaftsprüfer, die israelische Regierung und die Mitarbeiter blieben fast das ganze Jahr über unbezahlt. Das Spendenaufkommen hatte sich verflüchtigt. Unsere Arbeit wurde immer noch auf Facebook veröffentlicht, aber dort spendet niemand mehr. Wir fühlten uns sehr verletzlich und schuldig. Nach Gebet und Diskussionen am runden Tisch stimmten unsere Vorstandsmitglieder in Kanada, den USA und Israel für die Schließung. Es war eine harte Entscheidung, aber absolut notwendig.
Jay machte sich an die Arbeit und organisierte eine umfangreiche 7-wöchige Vortragsreise vom 1. September bis zum 22. Oktober. Wir begannen in Holland und reisten dann weiter nach Victoria in Kanada und quer durch das Land nach Charlottetown auf der Prince Edward Island.
Es war eine sehr freudige Erfahrung, aber auch eine traurige Erfahrung, als wir uns überall verabschiedeten. Wir haben in dieser Zeit so viele unserer treuen Partner getroffen. Wir waren überwältigt von der Güte von Gottes Volk und kehrten körperlich müde, aber geistig erfrischt nach Hause zurück. Es gingen Gelder ein, um den finanziellen Bedarf zu decken, was dazu beitrug, die Last der Verantwortung, die wir für Jerusalem Vistas empfanden, zu verringern.
Am 29. Dezember 2022 fehlten uns noch 23.000 Dollar, um die ausstehenden Rechnungen zu bezahlen. Doch heute, wenn ich diese Zeilen schreibe, freue ich mich, Euch mitteilen zu können, dass unsere und Eure Gebete erhört worden sind. Das, was wir brauchen, haben wir jetzt erhalten. Jay war heute Morgen früh auf den Beinen und hat die Zahlen an unseren Buchhalter geschickt, der nun die ausstehenden Rechnungen bezahlen wird. Bitte freut Euch mit uns.
Eine kurze Geschichte:
Jesus rief Jay und mich 1969 nach Israel. Von Jerusalem aus schickte er uns jahrelang um den Globus, um jüdische und christliche Gemeinden zu besuchen, bis wir 1976 Israel zu unserem endgültigen Wohnort machten. Zu diesem Zeitpunkt hatten wir drei kleine Söhne, David, Chris und Josh. Sie wurden in Kanada, Hongkong und den USA geboren. Wir begannen unser Leben in Israel in Haifa.
Jay plante einen Film, der zeigen sollte, wie normale Israelis die Prophezeiung leben. Die meisten waren sich dessen nicht einmal bewusst, da sie mit der biblischen Prophetie nicht vertraut waren. 1979 erzählte er dem Filmregisseur Bruce Allen in der Huntley Street 100 in Toronto von seinem Herzenswunsch. Gemeinsam legten sie ihren Traum dem Gründer Rev. David Mainse (in seligem Andenken) vor. Der Rest ist Geschichte. Ich glaube Ihr könnt sich ‘Apples of Gold’ auf Youtube ansehen. Jay gründete dann 1982 Jerusalem Vistas. Gates of Brass, der historische und prophetische Film über das sowjetische Judentum, wurde 1986 weltweit veröffentlicht. Einhundertfünfzig Dokumentarfilme und Hunderte von Fernsehsendungen folgten, welche im Laufe der Jahrzehnte weltweit ausgestrahlt wurden. Wir haben nie zurückgeblickt. Unsere vier Söhne spielten alle eine wichtige Rolle bei der Realisierung dieser Produktionen, in deren Mittelpunkt das Land Israel steht. Israel ist nach wie vor unser ständiges Zuhause und das von acht weiteren Familienmitgliedern.

Jay und ich beten für diejenigen von uns, die in Unruhe leben, in Angst vor einer unbekannten Zukunft. In den schlechten Zeiten war es der Vater von Königin Elisabeth, König Georg VI., welcher zwar krank, aber ein weiser Mann war, der die Menschen im kriegsgebeutelten Großbritannien und in der Welt ermutigte. Er sagte, und ich zitiere: “Geh hinaus ins Unbekannte und in die Dunkelheit und lege deine Hand in die Hand Gottes. Das wird besser sein als ein Licht und danach kommt ein neuer Weg. Was kannst Du uns noch geben, o Gott?”

Heräsin pieni hiljaisen äänen kuiskaukseen: ”Minä teen kaiken uudeksi …!” Se sai minut innostumaan. HERRA on aina antanut minulle toivoa elämäni ”pystynkö” tilanteisiin. Haluan, että teillä on toivoa ja luottamusta uuden vuoden aikana.
Älkää siis heittäkö pois uskallustanne, jonka palkka on suuri.

Muistuttakaa itsellenne, että uskonne perustuu rakastavan Isän uskollisuuteen. Kaikki taivaassa on tukenamme ja, kyllä vain, todellisuutta on gregoriaanisen kalenterin mukaisesti vuoden 2023 edessä olo, mikä on tuntematonta maastoa. Mutta meidän Jumalamme, jonka luomaa alku ja loppu ovat, on täällä meidän kanssamme! Pyytäkää Häneltä järkkymätöntä luottamusta siihen, että Hänellä ON tilanteiden hallinta. Valitkaa juuri nyt olla antamatta pelon häiritä tai tuhota elämäänne. Teidän on tehtävä työtä karkottaaksenne pelko ajatuksistanne ja tunteistanne. Tuo lupaus on istutettuna elämääni vuonna 2023. Käsillä on uusi päivä ja uusi aika. En raahaa eilistä tähän päivään. Uskon Jumalani olevan jatkuvasti oikealla puolellani ja tekevän ihmeitä. Meidän on jatkettava ja uskottava siihen, että tekemällämme on väliä; sillä miten kiitämme, näemme ja suhtaudumme maailmaan, jossa elämme.
Tällä hetkellä Jay ja minä olemme lepäämässä Herran rakkaudessa rakkaan perheemme luona Suomessa. Nautimme lumisista maisemista poikamme viihtyisän ja mukava kodin sisältä käsin. Nautimme jokaisesta hetkestä 16-vuotiaiden kaksoslapsenlapsiemme läsnäoloa. He muistuttavat vallattomia koiranpentuja… täynnä energiaa ja hyvää tuulta. Juuri sitä isoäiti ja isoisä tarvitsevat. Israelilla on uusi hallitus
Sekä eroava että virkaan astuva pääministeri puhuivat knessetissä ennen menemistään presidentin virkapaikalle viralliseen seremoniaan. Yair Lapid hahmotteli monia menestyksellisiä seikkoja, joita hänen ja Naftali Bennetin hallitus oli saanut aikaan. Lista oli pitkä ja se korosti äärimmäisiä turvatoimia. ”Haluan kertoa teille, että olemme onnistuneet niin, ettei historia tule muuttumaan.” Lapidin huolella laadittu lista saavutuksista oli varsin vaikuttava ja selkeä. Sitten puhui Netanjahu tulevan hallituksen aikeista. Painopisteinä olivat turvallisuus, Iran, elinkustannukset mukaan lukien asumiskulut sekä uskonnollisen status quon muuttumisen kiistäminen. Rukoilen viimeisen toteamuksen olevan totta, muut kohdathan ovat luonnollista osaa hallinnoinnista.
Presidentti kutsui kristityt johtajat tapaamiseen
Joka vuosi joulusesongin aikaan presidentti Isaac Herzog pitää suuren vastaanoton niille monille kristityille johtajille, joiden toimintakeskukset ovat Jerusalemissa. Kutsuttuina ovat koptit, katoliset, eri ortodoksiset suunnat, protestantit, evankelikaaliset sekä monet muut. Tämä ei sinänsä ole mitään poikkeuksellista; näin Israelin presidentit ovat kautta aikojen pitäneet yllä läheisiä välejä kaikkiin kristittyihin johtajiin.
Kotiinpaluu – uusia maahanmuuttajia
Jerusalemin Jewish Agency eli Juutalaistoimisto julkaisi tietoja vuoden 2022 maahanmuutosta:
Tuoreet luvut kertovat 70 000 uudesta maahanmuuttajasta 95 eri maasta, jotka muuttivat Israeliin Jewish Agencyn ja alijasta sekä integraatiosta huolehtivan ministeriön tuella. Se on suurin olimeja eli uusia maahanmuuttajia koskeva lukumäärä 23 vuoteen. Kurjista ajoista huolimatta meidän Jumalamme näkee koko jakson; lopun ja alun välin. Lapset palaavat kotiin omille rajoilleen, kuten Jeremia profetoi kauan sitten.
2022, haasteiden vuosi
Evankelista David Hathaway kirjoitti: ”Meille kaikille tämä vuosi on ollut kovin ongelmallinen: sota Ukrainassa, Venäjä hengellisessä sulkutilassa, sairaanhoitajien lakko Iso-Britanniassa, kaikkiin vaikuttavat talousvaikeudet sekä todellisen raamatullisen kristillisyyden oleminen uhattuna joka puolella. Vietin sotavuodet uhanalaisessa Lontoossa, ja siltikään en pysty muistamaan ongelmallisempia aikoja maailmassa kuin nykyiset.”
Minä, Meridel, synnyin isäni ja kolmen enoni ollessa Kanadan kuninkaallisten ilmavoimien ja armeijan palveluksessa. He olivat poissa vuoden 1945 puoliväliin asti. Onneksi emme eläneet sota alueella, mutta meillä kaikilla on muistoja puutteesta. Myös Jay syntyi isänsä ollessa Euroopassa, ja Victorian kaupunki oli usein öisin pimennettynä, sillä pelonaiheena oli japanilaisten tunkeutuminen.
Pelko vaani tuolloin maailmaa hurjien uutisten myötä. Nykyään saamme hälytyksiä ja varoituksia pahoista seikoista jo niitä ennakoiden. Media vahvistaa jatkuvasti yllemme syydettäviä huonoja uutisia, mutta kuka hallitsee oman television nappuloita ‘päälle’ ja ‘pois’? Ehdotankin, että me kaikki valitsemme toisenlaisen vaihtoehdon.
Todellisuutemme oli pahaa unta
Viimeksi kuluneena vuonna Jay ja minä havahduimme Jerusalem Vistasin velan hirveään todellisuuteen. Sitä oli kertynyt 100 000 Kanadan dollaria. Kirjanpitäjämme, tilintarkastajamme, Israelissa toimiva hallituksemme ja henkilökuntamme jäivät vaille palkkaa lähes koko vuoden ajalta. Lahjoitukset olivat haihtuneet. Työmme jatkui yhä Facebookissa, mutta kukaan ei tee lahjoituksia sitä kautta. Koimme olevamme hyvin haavoittuvia ja syyllisiä. Rukouksen ja yhteisten keskustelujen jälkeen hallituksemme jäsenet Kanadasta, Yhdysvalloista ja Israelista äänestivät toiminnan lopettamisen puolesta. Se oli kova tilanne, mutta täysin välttämätön.
Jay ryhtyi työhön ja järjesti laajan, seitsemän viikkoa kestäneen puhujakiertueen syyskuun 1. päivästä lokakuun 22. päivään. Aloitimme Alankomaista ja lähdimme sitten Kanadan Viktoriaan ja matkasimme halki mantereen Prinssi Edwardin saarelle Charlottetowniin.
Kokemus oli hyvin ilahduttava ja silti surullinen, lausuimmehan jäähyväisiä. Tapasimme matkan aikana monia uskollisista yhteistyökumppaneistamme. Jumalan ihmisten hyvyys tuntui ylitsevuotavalta, ja palasimme kotiin fyysisesti uupuneina, mutta hengessä virkistyneinä. Varoja kertyi taloudellisiin tarpeisiin. Se auttoi keventämään Jerusalem Vistasista tuntemaamme velvoittavaa taakkaa.
Joulukuun 29. päivänä 2022 meillä oli yhä maksamattomia laskuja 23 000 dollarin edestä, mutta tätä kirjoittaessani iloitsen voidessani ilmoittaa, että yhteiset rukouksemme on palkittu. Lyhyt tarina

Saammehan Jay ja minä rukoilla puolestanne
“Isä, auta meitä olemaan katselematta taaksepäin, paitsi antaaksemme kunniaa Sinulle. Tänään haluamme katsoa eteenpäin kohti tulevaisuutta!” Jay ja minä rukoilemme niiden puolesta, jotka elävät huolten alla peläten tuntematonta tulevaisuutta. Pahojen vaiheiden aikana kuningatar Elisabethin isä, huonokuntoinen mutta viisas kuningas Yrjö VI nostettiin esiin rohkaisemaan Britannian kansaa ja koko maailmaa. Hän lausui nämä tähän siteeramaani sanat: ”Kulkekaa tuntemattomaan ja pimeyteen ja pankaa kätenne Jumalan käteen. Se on valoa parempaa ja siitä seuraa uusi tie. Mitä muuta voit vielä meille antaa, oi Jumala?”
Jumala saa kasvomme loistamaan!

Remind yourself, that your faith is based upon the faithfulness of our loving Father. All of heaven is behind us and yes, our reality is; 2023 in the Gregorian calendar is ahead and it is unknown territory. But our God, who has created the beginning and the end is here with us! Ask Him for the unshakeable confidence that He IS in control. Right now choose not to allow fear to disturb or destroy your life. You must work to distance fear from your thoughts and emotions. TRUST in the LORD my dear friends as we go through this.
That promise is implanted into my life this 2023. It is a new day and a new time.
I will not drag yesterday into today. I will believe my God to be continually at my right side doing wonders. We must go on and believe to make a difference in how we give thanks, see, and relate to the world we live in.
Jay and I are resting in His love at this moment with our dear family in Finland. Yes, we enjoy the snow views, from inside our son’s cosy comfortable home. We are loving every moment with our 16-year-old identical twin grandsons, who remind me of rambunctious pups… full of energy and fun. Just what a Grandma and Grandpa need. I give thanks to their big brother, Noam who sets my letter week by week. We give thanks for our sons and their wives and our beautiful grandchildren found in many nations and you, friends.

Israel has a new government.
Both the outgoing and the incoming Prime Ministers spoke in the Knesset before going to the President’s House for the official ceremony. Yair Lapid outlined the multiple successes of his and Naftali Bennet’s government. It was a long list emphasizing the extensive security measures. “I want to tell you what we have achieved so that history will not be changed.” His careful listing of achievements was impressive and clear. Mr. Netanyahu then spoke about the intentions of the incoming government and here the emphasis was on security, Iran, the cost of living, including the cost of housing and the denial that the religious status quo would change. I pray that the last statement is true because the rest is a natural part of governance.
Christian leaders welcomed by the President:
Every year during this Christmas season, President Isaac Herzog holds a large reception for the many Christian leaders whose centres are in Jerusalem. Copts, Catholics, the many Orthodox sectors, Protestants, Evangelicals and many others. There is nothing exceptional in that, the Israeli Presidents throughout time have had a close relationship with all the Christian leaders.

The present count is 70,000 new immigrants from 95 different countries with the assistance of the Jewish Agency for Israel, in cooperation with the Ministry of Aliyah and Integration. This is the most olim or new immigrants in 23 years. So in spite of miserable times, our God sees the end from the beginning. The children are returning home to their own borders as prophesied by Jeremiah so long ago.
2022 – A Year of Challenges:
Evangelist David Hathaway wrote: “For all of us, this has been a most troubled year, with the war in Ukraine, Russia under ‘spiritual lockdown’, the nurses strike in Britain, economic woes affecting us all, and true Biblical Christianity being threatened everywhere. I spent the war years in a London under threat, and yet cannot remember a more troubled time in the world than today.”
I, Meridel, was born, when my Dad and three uncles were already serving in the Royal Canadian Air Force and Army. They were gone until mid-1945. Thankfully we did not live in a war zone, but we all have memories of lack. Jay was also born with his Dad overseas and Victoria was often blacked out at night for fear of an invasion from Japan. Then fear stalked the world with dire news reports. Today we are given alerts and warnings of the bad stuff just waiting to happen. Media reinforces the bad news upon us continually; but who controls the on and off buttons of your TV? I suggest we all choose a different alternative.
Our Reality was a bad Dream:
This last year, Jay and I awoke to the terrible reality of the debt owed by Jerusalem Vistas. It was a whopping CD of $100,000. Our bookkeepers, auditors, the Israeli government and staff went unpaid most of the year. Giving had evaporated. Our work was still going up on Facebook, but no one gives in to that venue. We were feeling very vulnerable and culpable. After prayer and round table discussions; our Board members in Canada, the US, and Israel voted to close. It was a hard call, but totally necessary.
Jay got to work and arranged an extensive 7-week speaking tour from September 1st to October 22nd. We began in Holland and then on to Victoria Canada and across the nation to Charlottetown Prince Edward Island.
It was a very joyful, yet painful experience as we were saying goodbye. We met so many of our faithful partners at this time. We were overwhelmed by the goodness of God’s people and returned home weary in body but refreshed in spirit. Funds were coming in to meet the financial needs, which helped to lift the load of responsibility we felt for Jerusalem Vistas.
As of December 29th 2022, we were still $23,000. short of paying the outstanding bills. But at this writing today, I am thrilled to announce that our prayers and yours have been rewarded. What we need has now been given. Jay was up early this morning, sending the figures to our bookkeeper who will now pay the outstanding bills. Please rejoice with us.l
A Short History: Jesus called Jay and I to Israel in 1969. From Jerusalem, He sent us globe trotting for years, visiting Jewish and Christian communities until we made Israel our permanent home in 1976. By then we had three small sons, David, Chris and Josh. They had been born in Canada, Honk Kong and the USA. We began our lives in Israel in Haifa.
Jay envisioned a film that would show ordinary Israelis living out prophecy. Most were not even aware of it, not being familiar with Bible prophecy. He told his heart’s desire to film director Bruce Allen at 100 Huntley Street in Toronto in 1979. Together they laid their dream before Founder Rev. David Mainse of blessed memory. The rest is history. I believe that you can view ‘Apples of Gold’ on YouTube. Jay then established Jerusalem Vistas in 1982. Gates of Brass, the historical and prophetic film on Soviet Jewry was launched worldwide in 1986. One hundred and fifty documentaries later, and hundreds of TV shows that went global through the decades. We have never looked back. Our four sons all played a significant role in achieving these productions centered upon the nation of Israel. Israel remains our permanent home and that of eight other family members.

Athens, Istanbul, Helsinki:
Last week we flew to Finland via Turkey. On the flight from Athens, we met a young teenager from California on his way to Lebanon. “Where are you from?” He asked.
“Jerusalem.”
“Where’s that?” He asked bewildered.
I must be out of touch, but I was shocked.
On another plane en route to Finland, Jay met young Muslims from Turkey. “What is that writing on your ring?” They were not shy to ask.
“It says, ‘I am my beloved’s and my beloved is mine in Hebrew.’” He explained.
“Who said that?”
“King Solomon, speaking of the God of Israel. I live in Jerusalem.”
The stunning response for the second time in hours also came from Muslims … “Where is Jerusalem?”
Please pray for the younger generations ‘x’ and ‘y. Many know absolutely nothing about Jerusalem, Israel the Bible or the Living God. Are you surprised? Do your young know? Just watch; we are ripe for a mighty visitation from on high, even as in the days when the Messiah first came. Get ready, it’s coming. I am expecting a mighty outpouring of God’s Presence and Power. His Spirit in us will answer the darkness that still believes that it rules. King Herod and Rome were under the allusion that they ruled the ancient world. Oh yes, and God came down and changed everything. TIME is HIS and HIS alone. Never forget that! That generation either believed and lived or died. Think of it! History was never the same again.

What special, hardworking, people shepherds were on duty 24/7. A friend of ours in France was a 50-year-old shepherd in partnership with his brother, but opening his heart to us, he confided; “I quit, the work it was just too hard.”
Shepherds who are still the salt of the earth.
I love rehearsing the Biblical accounts of the birth of Messiah-Jesus. Heaven gave a spectacular witness to the lowly shepherds then and to the world now through the Gospels. Reading Luke 2, I imagine that I am invisible, reliving the event, an unseen guest taking it all in. I thank Father God for his invested interest in Jacob-Israel and his shepherd sons. Moses had to spend 40 years shepherding under Jethro his father-in-law learning the terrain and ways of the wilderness in order to shepherd Israel. David was a shepherd and gave us the comforting description of Father God our Shepherd. Jesus refers to mankind as flocks of sheep or goats. He is the Shepherd of Israel and the living Church.
I imagine, that at first, a very young David tended his father’s flocks in the Shepherds Fields located on the outskirts of Bethlehem. Lambs born in these fields were raised especially for sacrifice in the Temple. David had obviously passed his father’s knowledge on to his son Solomon. But THIS night was different from all others before or since. The Creator of the Universe CHOSE the shepherds in the Biblical fields to be the first to hear of His most precious and eternal gift.
Suddenly, the heavens were lit up with an amazing visual extravaganza by none other than His armies (hosts) of heaven. Bill Ness from Scotland wrote and told me about he and his wife’s visitation by a person, they suspected he was an angel. Have you had that kind of experience?
WHO is the Glory and Consolation of Israel?
WHO is the Salvation of the Gentiles?
It was only about two months later, when Joseph took Mary and baby Yeshua-Jesus to the Temple in Jerusalem. It was the time of her purification following the birth, and the baby’s dedication. God’s faithful prophets were waiting for them in the courtyard. Ancient Simeon and Anna, 83 years old, had been alerted. They had prayed and waited all of their long and dedicated lives for this very moment! This was their divine appointment. They did not miss it and neither were they disappointed. Looking upon the child, their old hearts were beating wildly. The years of waiting in anticipation for Israel’s consolation were here.
“For my eyes have seen Your Salvation, [Isaiah 5:10]
Which You have prepared in the presence of all peoples,
A light for revelation to the Gentiles
[to disclose Salvation preciously unknown]
And the praise and honor and glory [consolation] of Your people Israel.
And his father and His mother were amazed at what was said about Him.”

Jews and Christians … ALL people under Attack.
The photo of this Hanukiah was salvaged just a few days ago from the bombarded synagogue in Mariupol Ukraine. Members of the remaining community found it in the ruins. Though burnt and battered it survived. Being in a war zone, they were inspired by the history of the Maccabees. With joy, they lit the first candle in the ruins. Danielle Mor. Jewish Agency Israel.
Let us remember the suffering people in Ukraine, Russia and now Eastern Syria where Turkey is raising havoc among the Yazidies and Kurds. Then there is China … Israel, your nation. People are being terrorized in many nations. “Father have mercy upon ALL nations and peoples, each one is in some degree of distress. We call for Your Consolation.”
The Greek and Russian Orthodox Christians love their icons. I received the following photo in Chris Norris’s Christmas letter. He is Australian, and was a former railwayman. Thank you Chris. This beautiful rendition of the Christ-child, was found in a cathedral in Ternophil, Ukraine. It is from 1893, oil on canvas, by Emilie Munier 1840-1895.
I close with this song by the late Rabbi Shalom Carlebach. You will enjoy the tour of Israel. It must be difficult to imagine what Israel is like if you have never visited.
Then try and imagine that the people singing this next piece, “ay” are the living descendants of the Biblical generations. They are singing, longing of the one day, when there will be Peace. There can be no Peace without the Prince of Peace.

The rush is on … so I will keep this short. In fact, I am sending you a very special investigative teaching on the early life of Miriam – Mary on two mp3 recordings. It is very easy listening as Clare Pfann, co-founder of the Jerusalem University opens the life of Miriam – Mary from as a teenager and up to and including the birth of Yeshua – Jesus. I suggest that you listen to this wonderfully illuminating teaching as you continue your preparations. This way I am not taking you away from cooking, driving to shop or picking the kids up, or perhaps, while you wrap up your Hanukkah and or Christmas gifts.
Israel:
But first, a little harsh news: Dec. 9/22.The United Nations took yet another swipe at the Jewish state when it voted 149-6 that Israel should accede to the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and dispose of its nuclear weapons cache. Indeed, it is Iran that should be the main concern of the international community. Only five countries – the U.S., Canada, Liberia, Micronesia and Palau – voted with Israel against the resolution. There were 26 abstentions, including several from the European Union as well as India. Ukraine was notably absent.
I noted: NOT one nation in Europe stood with Israel. Is history repeating itself? Keep your eyes open. Do we even know that Israel alerts the world of the danger of rogue nations? Nothing was done, which is typical is it not. Because Israel lives in the vicinity, they took authority and bombed the secret facilities for nuclear reactors in Iraq, Syria and Iran. Israel is a watchdog nation. keeping us safe. The fruit received for this is hatred, nothing but misinformation and vitriol. Consider please and pray for the peace of Jerusalem.
Eight Israelis who had been praying were shot at bus stops near the Western Wall, and two more while riding on a bus. Pray for the Peace of Jerusalem. Dec. 16/22.
Let’s Explore the Life of Mary:
Years ago I read Shalom Asch’s exquisite book “Mary”. I found it riveting. He explains that Mary was from a very dedicated and devote Jerusalem Jewish family active in the Temple. Many of these dedicated families were under threat of persecution and even extinction by mad king Herod. Quietly many of them fled to Northern Israel and literally hid out among their own in the small villages. He suggests that one of those villages is indeed, Nazareth. This is where Mary was chosen by the angel Gabriel.
